St. Louis Post-Dispatch writer Derrick Goold saved the life of a Cubs videographer, Mike Flannery, during the final regular season Cardinals vs Cubs game. Flannery had collapsed in the Cubs dugout and stopped breathing when Goold, who happened to be nearby and knew CPR, stepped in to perform life-saving measures. Thanks to Goold's quick actions, Flannery was resuscitated. The incident highlighted the tight-knit community between members of the baseball media and their willingness to help one another regardless of team affiliations.
