The Association for Treatment and Training in the Attachment of Children, by Michael Orlans

Commonly known as ATTACh, the Association for Treatment and Training in the Attachment of
Children serves as a multinational group of individuals with experience in the treatment of
attachment disorder. This type of condition refers to a person's difficulty in forming lasting
relationships, and it can emerge for a number of reasons. Employing an interdisciplinary
approach, ATTACh welcomes people from numerous fields who are interested in understanding
and combating these issues.

The organization started in September 1990, nearly a year and a half after the first conference
held on critical attachment and bonding. From its original 50 members, ATTACh is currently
comprised of over 600 people. Every year, the organization hosts a conference in a different

About the Author:
As one of the proprietors of Evergreen Psychotherapy Center in Colorado, Michael Orlans, MA,
provides attachment therapy to adults, couples, and children. The co-founder of ATTACh, Mr.
Orlans received the organization's Lifetime Achievement Award.
