This document summarizes a study of the Ara OB1a stellar association based on new optical photometry. The photometry was used to estimate the fundamental parameters of two prominent clusters in the association, NGC 6167 and NGC 6193, as well as the IRAS 16375-4854 source. NGC 6167 was found to be an intermediate-age cluster of 20-30 Myr, while NGC 6193 is very young at 1-5 Myr with evidence of ongoing star formation. The IRAS source is the youngest, containing several young stellar objects. The differences in ages support a picture of sequential star formation triggered over several tens of million years in the Ara OB1a region.
