Thanksgiving is celebrated annually on the fourth Thursday of November. According to tradition, the first Thanksgiving took place in 1621 when the Pilgrims and Wampanoag Native Americans shared an autumn harvest feast. In 1941, Thanksgiving was declared an official U.S. national holiday to be held on the last Thursday of November. Over 42 million Americans traveled over 50 miles for Thanksgiving in 2010 according to AAA. Minnesota is the top turkey-producing state, planning to produce 46.5 million turkeys in 2011, and nearly two-thirds of the 248 million turkeys raised in the U.S. are produced in six leading states. It is estimated that 46 million turkeys, about one-fifth of the annual total consumed in
