Ten Travel Thoughts*
1. Stay away from trash cans.
2. Always clear customs immediately
upon arrival at international airports.
3. Avoid “heavy” activity the day you
arrive. Fatigue makes travelers more
vulnerable to crime and injury. (Stay
sober the first day and drink the last.)
4. Lock up your passport in your hotel
safe upon arrival. Make four(4) copies
before departure for: briefcase,
family, office and your suitcase.
(During the day, just carry a copy with
you and your driver’s license. Lock
the passport AWAY!)
5. Carry two passport pictures in your
suitcase.
6. Always carry $20-40 or equivalent
with you. It might help in a tight
spot.
7. THERE IS POWER IN NUMBERS.
8. Watch out for “Chokepoints.” These
are places with only one exit or
where people might surround you.
Examples: alleys, bridges, basement
bars and bathrooms.
9. Vary your schedule & route; crooks,
crocodiles and kidnappers prey on
the predictable and careless.
10. Don’t share taxi’s with strangers.
*Bonus: THERE IS POWER IN NUMBERS!
