A building can be just as adaptive. Banks become drive-through restaurants, coffee shops and clothing stores and warehouses can become curling rinks.
As Tempe continues to reinvent itself, the adaptive reuse of existing building becomes increasingly important. Older buildings may become unsuitable for their original purpose due to more rapid changes in technology, architectural requirements and modern tastes than in the built environment.
