California. Over the span of nearly three decades,
William Routsis has litigated eight homicide
cases, all of which were ruled in favor of his
clients. One of his clients was Teddy Charles
Wilson.
Father to an infant son, Mr. Wilson was charged
with the murder of his child by violently shaking
him. However, during his trial in April 1992,
Superior Court Judge Gary Friedman dismissed
the case.

3. Teddy Wilson’s Homicide
Charges
 The dismissal was a result of insufficient evidence
and occurred before the prosecution and defense
gave closing statements.
The Bakersfield Californian, the local newspaper,
noted that the defense received a favorable
outcome due to testimony given by a medical
expert. The expert witness stated that it would
take at least 25 to 30 minutes for a baby to die
from shaking. Mr. Wilson was with the child for no
more than 15 minutes, according to testimony
from the infant’s mother.
