Before becoming a senior consultant for Focal Point, LLC, Dr.
Shirley Miles generated and implemented strategic reorganization
processes that increased student achievement for the Department
of Defense Education Activity, the Tempe Union High School
District in Arizona, and Thomas Jefferson High School in Colorado.
As a leader in the education sector, Dr. Shirley Miles maintains
membership with organizations like the Association for
Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).

ASCD recently hosted a 2014 Whole Child Symposium with a
“Teacher Leadership” theme that outlined the teacher leader
function, examined its importance in education, and explained
how administrators and education systems can foster future
teacher leaders. In the December symposium, ASCD offered
concrete action steps that education administrators can
implement to support current teacher leaders and cultivate the
next generation of leaders.
