Dynamic optimization problems involving differential-algebraic equation (DAE) systems are traditionally solved while retaining the semi-explicit or implicit form of the DAE. We instead consider symbolically transforming the DAE into an ordinary differential equation (ODE) before solving the optimization problem using a collocation method. We present a method for achieving this, which handles DAE-constrained optimization problems. The method is based on techniques commonly used in Modelica tools for simulation of DAE systems.
The method is evaluated on two industrially relevant benchmark problems. The first is about vehicle trajectory generation and the second involves startup of power plants. The problems are solved using both the DAE formulation and the ODE formulation and the performance of the two approaches is compared.
The ODE formulation is shown to have roughly three times shorter execution time. We also discuss benefits and drawbacks of the two approaches.

When I traveled Yakushima, small island in southern Japan, in 2002, I had to bring all the equipment and gadgets to write a travel journal. Last year, I visited Canada to see northern lights. All I had to carry was small digital camera and iPhone. Travel journal is so much easier to write. This presentation was created for Tokyo Blogger Meet-up.
This is a presentation I made for Tokyo Blogger Meet-up. The theme of the presentation I was given was "Self-Branding". Now that I think of it, I'm not really trying to make my self branding. Everything just happened and came naturally. I guess brad is not something you try to make. It's what you find within yourself.
This is a presentation I made for Tokyo Blogger Meet-up. The idea is to make a blog to store all the social media postings. Originally the idea was executed by storing all the posts to Evernote, but now I had created a blog which serves almost like my second external brain. If I forget everything, this is where I would find my memory.
Talking about money. I'm not talking about how to earn money. I'm talking about how I'm NOT earning money. One of the presentation I had done for Tokyo Bloggers Meet-up.
Working with Multi-national companies
When I work with them, I learn about the company brand and their products.
Then, most of the time, I fell in love with those product. The first car I bought was VW. I love disney movies and go disney land every year.
Wear adidas and NB. More I work with those brands, I find more attract to them.
