Tattoos have been used for thousands of years by humans as amulets, status symbols, declarations of love, and signs of religious beliefs. The author discusses four main types of tattoos: memorial tattoos to immortalize passed loved ones, tattoos as a form of self-expression and art, name tattoos to show love for another person, and street tattoos which can turn out well if done properly but are generally riskier than parlor tattoos. The author expresses their love of tattoos and belief that those who get them are bold for expressing themselves despite potential criticism.
