Character Articulation
Introduction 
Traditional Skeleton operation with Mouse 
and keyboard interfaces fall short because 
their control spaces do not match the 
perceptual space of the 3D interaction.
How it works? 
Pairs of permanent magnets and Hall-effect sensors embedded in each joint measure 
rotations
Control principles 
1. Joint 
2. Splitter 
3. Extension segment 
4. Endcap 
5. Controller
Review 
 Reduce the eye hurt. 
 Reduce the skeleton Recording time. 
 Accurate control to skeleton.

Light through Plant- 
Inspired Interactions
Introduction 
• Inspired by our daily interactions with bundles 
of vegetables 
• LightBundle affords grabbing, peeling and 
twisting of bundle and strands 
• The metaphoric plant properties lend 
themselves to interaction scenarios ranging 
from timing, location, social awareness to 
energy transfer
How it work?
Bundling 
Explore the direct manipulation of the grasping and releasing a bundle
Peeling 
By peeling open an outer layer an inner layer is revealed
Pointing 
Take the growth directionality of plants as a metaphor and enable the strands 
in the bundle to point in different directions to indicate information
Twisting 
Use this action of twisting together strands as a metaphor for binding 
and connecting two different sources of information
Grasping 
By grasping light the light in the room dims down
Social 
In the social aspect, the LightBundle enables one 
to keep up to date with what is happening 
with their friends without having to spend 
countless hours on social networking sites.
Pointing 
With the pointing metaphor, one can imagine a scenario during a dinner party 
where the host wants to keep track of when his guests are arriving .
Review 
 How plant-inspired metaphors open interaction opportunities in 
bundles and strands of optical fibers. 
 LightBundle as a Radical Atom that changes color, light, and sensing 
properties based on user manipulation. 
 In the future where material properties become malleable and 
seamlessly engage our full sensory.
