The Swift School is requesting a grant to fund a new weekly assistive technology lab for students ages 5 to 12 with dyslexia and language-based learning differences. The lab would provide instruction on identifying, selecting, and using assistive technologies like speech-to-text and text-to-speech programs. It would be open to currently enrolled students, alumni, and the public. The grant would cover 69% of costs for staffing, construction, equipment, software, and marketing of the new lab totaling $57,860. There is currently no other school in the area providing this type of assistive technology education and training to the public.
