This document describes a simulation game that can be used at a youth summer camp to teach about the different spiritual gifts mentioned in Romans 12:6-8. Participants are assigned a gift and must work together to guide a blindfolded person through an obstacle course. This allows campers to learn how different gifts can contribute to accomplishing a task as a group, similar to how spiritual gifts function within the church. The document also lists several Bible study curricula available for purchase for use at youth camps, focusing on themes like obedience, identity in Christ, living fruitful lives, and being on a spiritual adventure.

1. Blindfold one participant who
will be guided by the other
groups through an obstacle
course. This should involve
climbing over/under tables,
walking over a bridge (a row of
chairs) or any another creative
obstacles that do not endanger
anyone’s life! Of course there is a
small element of risk, but that
adds to the simulation.

spiritual gifts mentioned in
Romans 12: 6-8: Prophecy,
Service, Teaching, Exhortation,
Giving, Leadership, Mercy.

4. 3. Give each participant time to
plan how they will be
involved in guiding the
blindfolded person based on
their gift. Then let the group
meet together and discuss
how they will work together
to get the person safely
through the obstacle course.
Help them decide the role of
each person based on their
gifts.

5. Discussion
1. How did your actions
contribute to the successful
completion of your task?
2. What effect would the
absence of your “gift” had
on the outcome of this
simulation?
3. What comparisons can we
draw between this exercise
and the use of gifts in the
church- the body of Christ?

8. Bible Studies based on the book of Jonah
Only. This youth camp curriculum was
designed to teach the basic truths
of obedience in addition to evangelism in the
context of a Biblical character. The advantage
of going through a book and looking at one
man's story is that we see not only the
teaching but the example. It becomes much
more real!

Jesus asked the disciples, "Who do others
say that I am?" It was easy to answer
because it required no conviction, no
commitment, and no risk. But then he
follows that question with another, "Who
do YOU say that I am?"
