2. Why and How does Stress
Occur?
 Stress is two things:
 Anything that poses a challenge or
threat
 High demands on you
 positive or negative

3. Examples of stress:
 A work deadline
 Entering a marriage
 Changing jobs
 Threats of all kinds:
 by people, work, school, etc.

4. Symptoms
 Physical: sleep
disturbances, headaches, muscle
tension, fatigue
 Emotional:
nervousness, anxiety, changes in
eating, loss of energy, mood changes

5. Risks of Stress
 Possible suicide
 Loneliness
 Loss of sleep
 Weight gain
