This document provides information about stained glass artistry and commissioning stained glass artwork. 2. May I introduce you to some of the stained glass art work that I have had the privilege of
creating for clients who are inspired by the dynamism of glass artworks for the
windows and doors in their homes , business places and houses of worship.
I hope that you like what you see and that the information included strengthens your
understanding of the possibilities of creating your own designs of stained glass doors
and windows as part of your home.

Your entryway doors and windows are a premier location for dazzling glass.
The architecture of the house can be complimented with a one of a kind stained glass
entry way designed and created just for you.

4. The front entrance of this mission style home
sets the tone for the clean spare forms of the
mission influenced decorating throughout.
The Scandinavian influences in the

8. I sell doors and windows for my art work.
The clients who commissioned this entry way required a
new door to their home and chose an oval door light for
their entry.

9. The addition of a sleek full glass storm door that showcases the entry way adds a extra
touch of sophistication to the new entry way. (right)
The beveled Peacock and the lush floral surroundings incorporating many beautiful
kinds of glass were an inspired choice by the owners.

10. The glass inserts in entryway doors are standard sizes.
The two stained glass door lights below measure 22” x 36”
All door lights are thermal sealed with tempered glass shields for security and safety.

11. The door lights featured here are 22” x 48” .
Doors purchased for my art work can be painted inside and out with colors that accent
the indoor and the out door viewpoints.
The frames that secure the stained glass door light can be color coordinated as well to
give a seamlessness to the overall presentation.

15. Bathroom windows are a great choice for stained glass. The easy clean feature in the
bathroom is much appreciated.
Playful bubbles in clear textures or vibrant primary colours that are reminiscent of the
work of a client’s favorite early twentieth century architect are two different variations
on a theme for bathroom windows .

16. The final stained glass art work is a collaborative effort. Your ideas for design are
incorporated into the initial concept for the art. The ideas can be designs from other
mediums, favored subjects and artistic impressions that can be adapted to stained glass.
There are few limitations when working with glass as an expressive artistic medium

17. The design for the commissioned stained glass artwork can be inspired by T-shirt art, an
award winning photograph or simply an idea that incorporates a boat, a light house and
a heron. The window (right) inspired by the photograph (left) measures 43” X 32”.

18. The celestial subject matter (left) was inspired by T-shirt art and now artfully shines
over a hot tub. The heron, boat and lighthouse scene (right) very successfully
compliment the water views of this beach front home. This dining room window, the
center of a bay window , is designed to improve the view as it faces the seating area of
a neighbour’s deck.

19. Geometric line designs and clear textures are winning combinations for instant
elegance and sparkle. The light play on the varied textures in the clear glass and
beveled glass create shimmering silvers and crystal rainbows in the room.

20. Clear textures were used to create this geometric Art Deco influenced art work. The
selection of glass is an important element of commissioning a stained glass art work.
Collaborating with me when choosing the glass means the colors and the textures chosen
will be what you will see in your stained glass art work .

21. Stained glass art will not only enhance your living space, but will also add value to the
resale of your home. Clients have told me that the sale of their home was ‘made’ by
the glass art they co- designed for their properties.

22. Stained glass for religious environments is created to inspire the people who worship
in the church. I have done restorations of existing windows and have created art work
commissioned by the congregations. The design process is important to determine
what the form the art will take.

24. HOW TO COMMISSION A STAINED GLASS ARTWORK
The three factors that influence the cost of a stained glass commissioned art work are
the dimensions of the window, the intricacy of the design and the choice of glass used
to make the stained glass window for your home.
The Clown fish and friend is 4’ x 8’ and sits atop patio doors while Zee Bee is 18” x 18”

25. The intricacy of the design is evident in the two art works below. They have similar
dimensions but the craftsmanship and time invested in the one (right) is multiplied
many times over in the other (left) ...each is a floral beauty.

26. The selection of glass for the project is important to the overall appearance of the art
work and can be co-ordinated with colour themes that are in your home or the colours
can be chosen to compliment the artistic elements in the art work

27. Once the size of the window has been determined and the preliminary concepts for the
design have been established, a small down payment is required. I will then create on
paper a full size drawing of the intended project.

28. On completion of the drawing , we’ll get together at my studio to approve the design
and to choose the glass for the art work. On approval of the design and choice of glass I
will require half down and the balance owing on installation.

29. Here is Mary’s entryway. Mary wanted an owl, moon and a dragon to be featured in her
entryway. These choices have potent meaning for her. The initial concept of the owl,
moon and the dragon, using the drawings that Mary preferred, were worked into a
preliminary landscape that I felt would enhance the element choices.

30. The artwork continued to take shape and the colored drawings were produced for
Mary ‘s approval and to guide any changes to the design. She decided that the dragon
would need to be bigger in the final entryway artwork and the glass colors were chosen
to use in the crafting of Mary’s entryway, her personal signature to her home
