Talentvolle studenten die niet voldoende uitgedaagd worden verliezen soms hun motivatie en verlaten de opleiding voortijdig. Dit vereist voortdurend snelle aanpassingen in ons onderwijs en een uitdagende, contextrijke leeromgeving waarin de student wordt uitgedaagd zichzelf maximaal te ontplooien.
In de (groeiende) bedrijfstak van mediaproducenten is een grote vraag naar creatieve, technische, organisatorische en beeldende professionals op zowel HBO- als MBO-niveau.
Het project mediaXtra beoogt een antwoord te geven op deze beide uitdagingen. In dit project wordt het onderwijs gekoppeld aan de directe praktijkervaring. Studenten werken samen in een leerbedrijf (het productiehuis) waarin ze concrete mediaproducties maken in opdracht van derden. In het productiehuis wordt het onderwijs niet langer aanbodgestuurd maar vraaggestuurd verzorgd en uitgevoerd. De leersituatie wordt gevormd door de opdracht en de vraag van de opdrachtgever. De studenten worden begeleid door professionals uit onderwijs én bedrijfsleven.

The locations are published using different technologies - AJAX, Server Sent Events, and WebSockets - and visualized on a web application. HTTP traffic is inspected and visualization statistics are logged to analyze bandwidth usage and efficiency. The results show that the newer technologies of SSE and WebSockets use bandwidth more efficiently than traditional AJAX polling for real-time vehicle tracking applications.
