Case Presentation: Pancreatic Clinical Chemistry AbnormalitiesOmega Cantrell
A 9-year-old hound mix was hospitalized multiple times over 2 months for vomiting and decreased appetite. Bloodwork showed initial hypercalcemia that resolved after removal of an enlarged parathyroid gland, but then developed hypocalcemia. Liver and pancreatic enzymes worsened throughout hospitalization, along with thrombocytopenia, coagulopathies, and signs of systemic inflammation and sepsis. Necropsy revealed pancreatic adenocarcinoma with widespread metastasis, supporting the diagnosis of metastatic cancer as the underlying cause.

This document summarizes research on participants in Integrated Sports. The research aimed to learn about who participates, their motivations, and the level of disabilities. 84 participants across 13 European countries were interviewed, including athletes, coordinators, and trainers. Most participants were motivated by socializing and being with friends/family, rather than competition. While integrated sports provide exercise and social opportunities, few felt forced to participate. The research concludes integrated sports are a meaningful part of local communities, with most choosing to participate voluntarily.

Putting it all together: Personalized care for cancer survivors Carevive
This document discusses barriers to quality cancer survivorship care and potential solutions. It notes that there are over 13 million cancer survivors in the US who face long-term effects of treatment and prevalent unmet needs. The Institute of Medicine recommends that survivors receive a comprehensive treatment summary and care plan. However, creating these plans can be time-consuming. New technologies like the On Q Health system aim to generate personalized care plans more efficiently based on patient-reported outcomes and guidelines. The system covers symptoms, surveillance, late effects and aims to improve quality and coordination of care across the cancer journey.

The document discusses the history and evolution of e-assessment over the past 10 years. It notes that e-assessment began being widely used in the late 1990s and involves online testing using computer technology, mainly multiple choice questions. The types of e-assessment include summative high-stakes tests and formative assessments. Recent benefits of e-assessment include immediate feedback, assessment validity, and flexible administration. However, benefits are not automatic and poor design may achieve no benefits. The document also describes a case study of developing an e-assessment system for logic courses that provides automated scoring and feedback.
Robert Hooke first observed cells in 1656 when examining slices of cork under a microscope. He saw small boxes or compartments separated by walls, which he named "cells". Cells are the basic structural and functional units of all living organisms. They can be unicellular, consisting of a single cell, or multicellular, made of many cells. Cells come in various shapes and sizes, from bacteria only a few micrometers in size to ostrich egg cells over a centimeter long. The main parts of a cell are the cell membrane, cytoplasm, and nucleus. Plant and animal cells are similar but plant cells have a cell wall and typically larger vacuoles, while animal cells lack a cell wall and have smaller vacuoles
