14:00 – 17:00
ENABLING TECHNOLOGIES FOR ADAPTIVE MUNITIONS AND MULTI-ROLE EFFECTORS
IN MODERN AND FUTURE MISSIONS
Led By: Gert Scholtes, Senior Scientist, TNO
Introduction:
The high temperatures and dusty environment found in operations in urban environments, coupled
with the desire to minimise collateral damage put high demands on weapons, munitions systems and
personnel. The new scalable and Adaptive Munition could represent a solution for these Effect based
operations and this workshop will assess its future potential.
Participants will evaluate:
t Effect based Approach to Operations and the desired effects in modern and future MOD missions
t Effect Based Requirements (EBR) for Weapons and Munitions
t MOD combat scenarios and the comparison of Adaptive Munitions (AM) / Multi‑Role Effectors (MRE)
and conventional solutions with respect to the EBR
t AM and MRE enabling technologies
Participating in this workshop will allow you to develop your understanding of the advantages and
disadvantages of adaptive munitions and multi‑role effectors when compared with conventional
munitions solutions. The desires and gaps from the MOD perspectives, the innovations from the
technology side and the technology gaps we will need to cover in the future.
