Saving Time Part II
Take a time management course
Spend some time and money
in a time management
course if you can not reach
your goals because you are
not good in time
management. Good time
management will increase
your productivity a lot.
Turn To-Do’s into appointments
Make appointments to yourself
as you would do with others.
Block out that time on your
phone, set up a reminder and
keep these appointments. Avoid
phone and e-mail during your
appointment with yourself. Use
that time for brainstorming,
planning or other creative
projects.
Break large tasks "
into smaller tasks
Break large tasks into smaller
tasks. It will give you a better
sense of accomplishment as you
complete each step.
Furthermore, it is easier to get
back on track and regain your
focus, when you are interrupted
in the middle of a task
Do not waste your time
Do not waste your valuable
working time by surfing on
Facebook, Twitter or
anything else on the
internet. This is a waste of
time and just stops you from
reaching your goals.
Delegate
If you really do not have
time to work on a task, just
take a look at your to-do list
and consider what you can
pass on to someone else.
Do not procrastinate
You may be putting off tasks for
a variety of reasons. Maybe the
task seems overwhelming or
uncomfortable. If you’re having
trouble getting started, you may
need to do some preparation
work like collecting materials or
organising your notes. You can
also try building in a reward
system as you complete each
small task.
Be flexible
An effective time
management system will
take some time to get used
to. So, no matter what you
did or didn’t get done today,
there is always tomorrow to
get it done.
Get organised
Being organised will help
you to reduce the time spent
looking for items and can
help keep you on track when
implementing agendas. So
being organised saves you
time, money and therefore
eliminates stress.
Take a break when needed
Too much stress can have a
bad influence on your
attempts at getting
organised. When you need a
break, take one. Take a walk,
do some quick stretches at
your workstation or take a
day of vacation to rest and "
re-energise.
Rise early
You can accomplish quite a
bit before most others even
wake up, by taking
advantage of the early
morning hours. This early
start will help you stay
disciplined and motivated
during the day.
