Biomechanics is the study of the structure and function of biological systems such as humans, animals, plants, organs and cells by means of the methods of mechanics. It looks at the forces that act on and within living organisms and the effects that forces can have on an organism. Biomechanics aims to apply mechanical principles to understand how living organisms operate and move.
