This document discusses adapting 3D multi-user virtual environments to run on heterogeneous devices. It proposes a framework called 3DVEAdapt that can be integrated with MPEG-4 to adapt 3D data and user monitoring controls for applications. The framework allows applications to react to variations in device resources and network capabilities. This helps programmers add adaptation mechanisms to support different environments and handle changes to the 3D scene complexity during runtime. The authors are Regina Borges de Araujo, Alessandro Rodrigues e Silva, and Glauco Todesco from the University of Sao Paulo.
