Sikkim Travel From Bangladesh New Hope For Indian Govt.pdf
1. Sikkim Travel From Bangladesh New Hope For Indian Govt
Sikkim, India's second smallest state in the northeast, is a paradise for nature lovers, bordered by West
Bengal on the south, Bhutan on the southeast, Nepal on the west, and Tibet, an autonomous region
of China, on the northeast. Filled with beautiful mountains, deep valleys and biodiversity, Sikkim is a
favorite destination for tourists. Gangtok is also known as the largest city of Sikkim along with the
capital of the state and is located at an altitude of 5500 feet on the Shivalik mountain.
The total area of Sikkim is about 7000 square kilometers with a total population of more than 6 lakhs.
As most of the state is mountainous, Sikkim enjoys a mild climate during summer, with temperatures
not exceeding 28 degrees. On the other hand, during winters, the residents experience spine-tingling
shivers as the temperature drops below freezing. Sikkim became a part of India in 1975 and since then
the political structure of the state has followed the same as the rest of the states in the country. The
Legislative Assembly consists of 32 members elected through proper elections.
In 2016, Sikkim became the first state in India to be declared a chemical free or organic state. In Sikkim,
the use of pesticides in agriculture is considered a crime. Anyone who uses pesticides on land can be
fined up to one thousand four hundred dollars or equivalent. Even jail for about three months.
Sikkim is diverse from east to west, north to south. Hills, mountain springs, forest of medicinal plants,
dense forest, Sikkim is a different dimension on foot. The province of Sikkim is divided into four
districts. North Sikkim, East Sikkim, South Sikkim and West Sikkim. Let's take a look at the important
must-visit places in each district.

very landslide prone area, so roads can be closed at any time of the year.
South and West Sikkim can be visited throughout the year, but some places can be difficult to visit
during the monsoons. East Sikkim's Juluk and Nathang Valley and Changu Lake along with
Babamandir/Nathula are best visited between late September to November and late February to May.
Gangtok can be visited anytime.
