It’s hard to believe that by the
time our October Fly Paper hits
your inbox, NBAA staff will
already be on-site making ini-tial
preparations for the 2014
NBAA Business Aviation Con-vention
and Exhibition Static
Display. We have officially re-ceived
word that the Static Dis-play
is already sold out nearly
two months before the show’s opening day...a new record. With over 95 planes
committed to display on our leasehold October 21-23, the excitement is growing!
If you are a Showalter based customer, you should have already received a phone
call from our staff asking you to consider your flying needs for October. Tie-down
customers have been notified that the location of their aircraft will be different
during the entire month of October to make room for the Static Display. Most tie-down
aircraft that are planning to fly during the month of October will be tempo-rarily
moved to a grass tie-down accessible to pilots and passengers via the
Showalter main lobby. Hangar customers planning to fly during the show have
been informed that the location of their aircraft will be impacted from October
18th– 25th. Hangared aircraft will be flying during the show will be relocated to
one of our accessible hangars for the duration of the convention. Please contact
our front desk at any time if you are unsure of your aircraft’s location and know
you can count on our staff to make this inconvenience as seamless as possible for
you and your passengers.
If you have not responded to communications from us regarding your flying plans
for October, please contact our front desk immediately! Unless otherwise instruct-ed,
we will assume that you will not need to access your plane during the above
dates and “bury” it in a safe, yet inaccessible location for the duration of the show.
If you have any questions regarding the impact on your aircraft, please contact Ed
at the front desk or email ed@showalter.com.
While many of our customers have experienced at least one (or maybe eight!)
NBAA Conventions, we are sensitive to the fact that not everyone is comfortable
with the impending airport “invasion.” Please do not hesitate to reach out to Dan,
Kim, Jenny or anyone else at our offices if you have questions about how we oper-ate
during NBAA, or what you should expect. We realize that it is because of your
flexibility, generosity and understanding that Showalter has been chosen to host
the Static Display a record nine times.
Thank you for your support!

Lodi’s Lowdown
Congratulations Nicholas Musashe! The correct answer for the August Lodi’s Lowdown question is: The F- 4 Phantom holds 15 world records that remained unbroken until the F-15 Eagle beat five of the F-4’s speed records in 1975.
The question for September is:
Why is there a hump on the wing of the Air Force version of the F-4
Phantom?
Please email your answers to
jenny@showalter.com.
Help Fund the F-4 Phantom Project at Kittinger Park
The Board Members of the Kittinger F-4 Park initiative have been working to get an F-4 Phantom installed as a monument at the Kittinger Park at the Orlando Executive Airport. The purpose of this monument is to honor and recognize the Central Florida Veterans that served our country and participated in the Vi- etnam War from 1961-1973. Over 2.7 million service men and women served in Vietnam with over 37,000 killed in the conflict. Of those service men and wom- en who lost their lives in the Vietnam War, 333 were from Central Florida.
The F-4 Phantom was the most significant aircraft that flew in the Vietnam War. The aircraft provided close air support for the Army and Marines who fought the ground war. The aircraft was used to interdict strategic and tactical targets as directed by higher headquarters. The F-4 aircraft shot down the most enemy aircraft. The two fighter aces in the war, USAF and US Navy, flew F-4's. I shot down a Mig 21 with an F-4. There is no better monument to recognize the War in Vietnam than an F-4 Phantom. This monument is a way for our commu- nity to recognize and say thanks to the service men and women from the Cen- tral Florida area that served in the Vietnam War and the 333 that made the su- preme sacrifice for our country.
The following document chronicles the Vietnam War.
http://www.uswings.com/vietnamfacts.asp We owe it to our country to honor those who fell in protecting our country and Freedom. God Bless America. The Kittinger F-4 Park, Inc, is a 501 (c) (3) organization, with all of the Board members and advisors working as volunteers. We have raised over $59,000 towards a target of $200,000. Any contri- butions would be appreciated. To donate, please visit the website listed below. Thanks,
