DSL Best Practices
In this deck I describe twenty best practices for using external DSLs to develop software (also know as Model-Driven Development). The best practices are based on my personal experience, but they are also rated based on feedback I received from a number of colleagues to express the level of confidence experts have in the particular best practice.
The slides cover three main aspects: language definition, model processing as well as process and organizational issues. Examples include the importance of notations, viewpoints and partitioning, the role of constraints, model transformations and testing as well as some thoughts on documentation, reviews and project roles.
Putting twenty best practices into 5.000 words of course results in each best practice being quite brief. However, it also means each is highly condensed and to the point. I believe the slides remind developers of most of the critical aspects of using DSLs, and it can serve as a checklist when starting an MD* project.
Grown-up javascript with AngularJS
Surprisingly many web developers don't realize that Javascript ecosystem is not the same as it was few years ago, when building a single-page web application was considered risky business.
Those times are way behind. Modern javascript MVC frameworks are if not silver, but certainly solid bullets which every person who wants to use benefits of evolution should be aware of.
I'll tell you about challenges that happen when you build a single-page application, about REST interface, and certainly about one of such frameworks: AngularJS, created by hackers from Google keeping in mind best software development principles such as TDD and dependency injections. That's why writing with AngularJS is such a pleasure.

This document discusses optimizations made in Apache Spark to improve performance for large-scale sorting and shuffling of data. Some key optimizations discussed include improving data layout and algorithms to maximize CPU cache locality, saturating network and disk I/O, and implementing more efficient shuffle algorithms and data structures like sort-based shuffling and optimized hash maps. Games for the Masses (Jax)

Sirius: Graphical Editors for your DSLs
This document discusses Sirius, a graphical modeling tool for defining domain-specific languages (DSLs) within the Eclipse environment. Sirius allows developers to create custom multi-view modeling workbenches for DSLs without needing expertise in GMF/EMF. It provides both a specification environment for defining DSLs and a runtime environment for end users.
