• Akumal is a small, beach front tourist resort 100 km (62 miles) south of
Cancún, between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. The town was founded for
scuba divers by Pablo Bush Romero, a Mexican businessman, diver, writer,
historian, and archaeologist. The white sandy beaches set against the
turquoise Sea at Akumal and Half Moon Bay are exquisite. The protected
areas around the reef are ideal for diving because of the abundant sea life
in the waters below.

most amazing places for snorkelers and divers because of its turtles and
