The paper describes how to measure the color and haze (turbidity) of beer using a spectrometer. The paper goes into the history of measuring beer color and how that became an initial standard for the color industry. Color and haze are indicative of beer ingredients and indirectly flavor.
Two key ways to identify beer or ale is by color and turbidity. The paper shows how to measure each using a Visible Spectrometer (the i-LAB from MicrOptix), although others may be used.
