Selfies on social media are more commonly posted by women and are linked to both physical and psychological wellbeing. Women who post more frequent selfies report lower self-esteem and body image satisfaction than men. However, for both men and women, selfie posting frequency was positively associated with narcissism, which can influence perceptions of both physical appearance and psychological health.
