SED is an after school program that provides hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math activities for students in 3rd, 7th and 12th grades. Students have the opportunity to build robot pets, learn coding, and conduct DNA experiments. SED aims to foster creativity, problem solving skills, and excellence in students by allowing them to explore scientific concepts through experimentation and design. The small class sizes of 16 students or less allow for close mentorship from science professionals with various specializations and degrees.

grade, not years down the road.

results, and design new experiments to follow your own interests.

is to foster and promote creativity, divergent thinking, and excellence in the next
generation of innovators and scientists by mentoring children to explore their world
using the scientific method.

unique?
We are science professionals with over 30 years of combined experience
We have specialties in genetics, veterinary medicine, physics, biology,
environmental science, theatre and journalism with 3 Bachelor's, 1 Master’s
and 4 Doctoral degrees.
We have a passion for mentoring students in science, and believe that all
children, being naturally inquisitive, are scientists who need only knowledge
and experience to fulfill the potential of their imagination.

5. Age appropriate, small
groups
Enrollment is limited so that our instructor-to-learner ratio never exceeds 1:16
Along with mentorship, learners learn best in a safe, open environment when surrounded
by peers who challenge and encourage them to learn.

“As I was trying to download Xcode I
realized that my Mac does not run the
correct iOS in order to download it. With
some further research I found a site
called Xamarin. Through this software I
can not only code the app but test it on
both an IOS device and an android
device. The app is only limited to the c#
code writing language. I have gone
ahead and downloaded it and will mess
around with it for some time. Hopefully
this will be the correct software for

who completed a laboratory research project
under the guidance of SED's Dr. Devanjan
Sikder, were named semifinalists for
Broadcom MASTERS, a national competition
for middle school students pursuing Math,
Applied Science, Technology and Engineering.
Only 300 students in the nation were selected
from 6,000 applicants to receive this honor.
The next group of 30 finalists will present their
research in California for a chance to win
$25,000 in prizes.
