Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated worldwide as a religious holiday commemorating Saint Patrick's death, especially in Ireland where he was one of the most popular saints. While originally a religious occasion, modern celebrations focus on Irish culture with parades and the wearing of green. In Spain, the town of Calda de Reis holds a Saint Patrick's parade, and Chicago famously dyes its river green for the holiday, attracting huge crowds.
