Safe Spring Break!
Ahh, spring break is finally approaching and you get to take a much needed vacation from
classes and boring Statesboro. All the sweat and tears from spring break boot-camp class has
paid off as you get to strut your stuff on the white sandy beaches. If you have booked your trip,
all that’s left to do is packing your fabulous clothes and thinking about how to make the most of
your time away. Whether you are jetting off to Panama City, Mexico, or an alternative spring
break trip, we’re sure it will be tons of fun. But, before you go, keep in mind there are some
regulations for popular destinations:
Panama City
● No alcoholic beverages on the beach and parking lots
● $500 hefty fine if caught
● Local bars stop serving alcohol at 2 a.m.
● 21+ is the drinking age
Miami
● No alcoholic beverages on the beach
● No glass containers or open containers
● Beach is closed from 12 a.m. - 5 a.m.
Myrtle Beach
● No alcoholic beverages on the beach
● $200 fine if caught
● 21+ is the drinking age
Daytona Beach
● No alcoholic beverages on the beach
● 21+ is the drinking age
Key West
● No open containers
● 21+ is the drinking age
Savannah
● 16 oz limit for an open container
● 21+ is the drinking age
While there is nothing wrong with indulging alcohol while you are on vacation, be smart and
responsible as well as know your limit and NEVER drink and drive. Make sure you have a
designated driver, get a taxi, or call UBER. Tan safely and use suntan lotion with at least
SPF30 ! Also, don’t forget to stay hydrated! Dehydration is a serious concern when spending
time in the sun and consuming alcohol. A water bottle is great to have at all times. If plain water
isn’t enticing, try infusing it with frozen berries for a sweet delicious taste! Last but not least,
enjoy your break!
