• Drafted into the NBA in 1979
• Led his team to a Big Ten Conference title and
a spot in the NCAA Tournament in 1978
• NBA Finals MVP: 1980, 1982, and 1987
• NBA Most Valuable Player: 1987, 1989, and
1990
How Earvin Johnson got his name
• Earvin Johnson was first appropriately named
“Magic” Johnson when he was 15. He was
playing for his High School, Everett High
School. The reason he received his name was
because he, in one game, did a triple-double
of 36 points, 18 rebounds and 16 assists.
•THAT…….Is impressive!
Senior Year in High School
• Magic averaged 28.8 points and 16.8
rebounds per game!
• Led his team to a 27-1 win-loss record for the
year.
• Took his team to a overtime win in the state
championship game!
College Years
• Johnson attended Michigan State University
• Led his team to a 25-5 record
• Also helped them receive the Big Ten
Conference title, and a spot in the 1978 NCAA
Tournament
• Only went to college for 2 years, then was
drafted into the NBA
NBA Years
• Magic Johnson was one of the best men to ever play the sport of
basketball
• His achievements go on and on and on. Here are his main ones in the

The Olympics
• Magic Johnson was selected to play on “The
Dream Team” in the 1992 Olympics
• Johnson was unable to play through most of it
due to tearing cartilage in his knee during one
of his many games
• He still supported his team from the sidelines
and they WON!!!
HIV/ AIDS
• Magic Johnson was diagnosed with HIV
• He started the Magic Johnson Foundation
which targeted HIV and taught kids about
“safe sex”
• The foundation eventually grew and now
supports all types of charitable goals
