THE SHIFT TO VALUE-BASED CARE
Reimbursement models for providers and hospitals are shifting from fee-for-service to
value-based care and bundled payments. In fact, hospitals are now being penalized for
readmissions as well as the occurrence of pressure ulcers, which the U.S. Centers for

SUPPORT SERVICES
Healogics deploys a group of experts when
a new Wound Care Center® opens to provide
onsite education and support to hospital
coders who may be unfamiliar with wound
care. The company's corporate reimbursement
managers also provide ongoing education
and support, and field personnel regularly
travel to the centers to offer additional
support as needed.
Healogics works closely with hospital billing
departments to ensure the chargemaster
and billing codes are up to date. The company
performs a daily reconciliation at the center
level, usually reconciling it with the hospitals’
records to ensure there are no missed
revenue opportunities.
If claims are rejected, hospitals can request
Healogics assistance with appealing the denial.
Also, Healogics is available to assist with a probe
audit, drawing upon past experience working
with Medicare Administrative Contractors.
SMOOTH IMPLEMENTATION
OF ICD-10
One of the most difficult aspects of ICD-10
is meeting the requirement for additional
documentation. Healogics updated its
systems a year in advance of the rollout,
allowing providers to become accustomed
to the new codes.
Healogics also conducted training webinars,
teaching users how to use wound management
system’s search functionality to find the code
with the highest level of specificity.

In 2015, Medicare rolled
out a requirement for
prior authorization for
hyperbaric oxygen therapy
in three states. In support
of these new requirements,
Healogics is working closely
with its hospital partners
in each state to:
