TRAINING & PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN
Project Title: SHRINKAGE OF CEMENTATION IN HIGH PRESSURE AND HIGH TEMPERATURE
WELL.
Mentor: Dr. Kishore Lal, Chief Chemist, Cementing R&D Department, IDT, ONGC, Dehradun.
Institution: Institute of Drilling Technology, ONGC, Dehradun.
Duration: One month (30 December 2014 – 30January 2015).
Abstract: The project involved detailed discussion of cementation problems and their remedy
while performing cementation job in HPHT wells. The project also includes the detailed study of oil
well cements and their API classifications, functions of cementation job, cement additives, cement
slurry design parameters.
Project Title: Casing and cementation (MINI PROJECT)
Mentor: V.N Ayer, HOD, Department of Petroleum Engineering.
Institution: Lords Institute Of Engineering and Technology.(MINI PROJECT)
Duration: One month (31-11-2015 to 30-12-2016)
Abstract: The project mainly focused on the parameters which we have to consider before selection
of casing such as BURST PRESSURE, COLLAPSE PRESURE, and TENSION LOAD etc. It also involved the
study of different types of casing which are used to complete an oil well and their functions.
Major Project: Principle and application of Directional drilling technology.
Mentor: V.N IYER, HOD, Department of Petroleum Engineering.
DURATION: One month (31-01-2016 TO 29-03-2016)
Abstract: Project includes the detain information about the Directional Drilling Technology and
its application in oil industry. Why and where we should go for directional drilling rather than vertical
drilling it also mentioned in this project.
INDUSTRIAL VISITS:
Institute of Drilling technology, ONGC Dehradun.
BHEL, HYDERABAD.
Observation: During the above mention visits I have come to know all the basic drilling rig
components and drilling fluid designing and importance of drilling fluid in drilling.
CUDDAPAH, BARITE DEPOSIT
Observation: This is the world’s largest barite deposit with an estimated reserve of around 74 million
tonnes. I have seen different types of barites there and came from there along with the knowledge
which included the importance and functions of barites in oil and gas industry.
