Stay productive this spring break and add some repurposed furniture in your home!
If you have a lot of old furniture at home and you’re reluctant to part with any of them, why not try and
repurpose them? You can breathe new life into that old couch or cabinet as a new decorative piece for
your home. If you’re looking for projects this spring to work on with your diamond blade saw that will
help save you money, improve your home’s aesthetic appeal, and reduce waste, here are some ideas
for repurposing old furniture:
Make Two Old Chairs into a
French Bench
If you have two identical chairs
that need you were going to
throw out, reconsider! Instead,
you can turn those two old chairs
into something beautiful that you
can use again for your living
room, dining room, or for your
bedroom!
The first step in making the
bench involves having the right
pair of chairs to use

Ideally, you want chairs that have a light curve. The back and the back legs of the chairs need to be made
of one piece. Next, you have to remove the front legs and the seats.
To join the two seats together, you have to make a rectangle box based on the measurements of your
chairs. Use hardwood from your local hardware store to make this box. Use wood screws to secure the
ends of the wood boards together.
Next, you should attach the box to each chair. Drill holes into the chair back and screw in the rectangle
box to the chairs one at a time. Make sure that the rectangle box is firmly secured onto both chairs.
Now that you have your rectangle box installed, all you have to do is paint the chairs to your desired color
and add the seats. Voila! You have your French bench made from old chairs!
Use an Old Doors as Your Kitchen
Island
If you have an old door that you’d
otherwise dispose of, why not find a
new use for them instead? Do you
need a new breakfast nook for the
kitchen? Then that old door can
make the perfect tabletop!
With an old door, remove all the
hardware, the hinges, screws, and
doorknob. Fill any holes left behind
with blocks of wood. To seal the
areas where the blocks of wood are
placed, use water putty. Sand down
these areas until they’re smooth
enough for your liking. Apply
Vaseline on the spots you want on
the door. Spray some paint
afterward.
Once the paint dries, scrape away
the paint where you applied the
Vaseline. Wipe away any excess
Vaseline then apply a dark stain on
the door. By now, your old door
should have a more aged look to it.
To seal the stain, apply a coat of
clearcoat. Now your tabletop is
done, time for the base.
To work on the base, you’re going to planks of 2x4s. Cut the
pieces accordingly with your circular saw and screw the frame
together with wood screws. Paint the base to give more of a
wooden look appearance. Afterward, it’s time to attach the
tabletop. Nail the top to the base. To finish, apply a plexiglass
or tempered glass to the top, and we’re all done!

Use an Old Chair as Your Drink Stand
If you’ve made old chairs into a new
bench, how about making an old chair into
a drink stand? If you have an old chair
lying around, particularly one with a round
seat, then you can repurpose that chair.
Remove the cushion if there is any.
If the wood is a little worse for wear, you
can rub lemon oil to bring out the natural
wood color. Find a galvanized bucket with
handles that will fit the hole in the seat. If
necessary, add some supports to hold
onto the bucket. Add some decorations
according to your discretion, and we’re all
done!
