Letter of Reference for Renan Micha
To whom it may concern:
We have been very fortunate to have had Renan Micha join Global Energy Network Institute
(GENI) as an intern from June 1 through August 28, 2015. Renan has earned a Bachelor degree
in Chemistry at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is currently working on his
Master’s degree in Advanced Energy and Fuel Management at Southern Illinois University at
Carbondale. Renan wanted to deepen his understanding of global trends and gain experience
in his field.
GENI conducts research and education on a global strategy for peace and sustainable
development. Specifically, we focus on the electrical interconnection of renewable energy
resources around the world. Our work is fully explained on our web site: www.geni.org as is
one of our primary projects at www.wrsc.org.
Renan was an integral participant in the special summer project we conducted, entitled
“Geodesign.” This summer series tackled the big issues of our times – clean water and energy
for all. Renan learned that sustainability means we plan a future that meets today's needs and
the needs for generations to follow. Resiliency means we must plan to adapt and mitigate the
consequences of climate change. In Geodesign, Renan worked in teams to develop layered
maps to better understand what and how we develop our land – taking advantage of
geography and natural resources in the most optimal manner. Renan presented his findings to
the general public and live on-line, gaining excellent presentation skills.
In the process of his internship, Renan broadened his awareness of global energy issues,
sustainable development and trends facing our planet. In his time at GENI, Renan has made a
significant contribution, and his participation has had a positive impact on our work.
I give a positive reference for Renan Micha for any position for which he is qualified. He is
