It need not use the final architecture, but it should link together the main architectural components. The architecture and the functionality can then evolve in parallel.' It is also the theme of the popular book 'Growing Object Orientated Software Guided by Tests' by Steve Freeman and Nat Pryce.
In this session Thomas will start with a clean development environment and develop a walking skeleton for an application. The skeleton will evolve and parts will be added as we gather more and more knowledge about the system we are building.
This will demonstrate how Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) and Test Driven Development (TDD) can be used to drive the development of a Walking Skeleton, keep it running, and grow it incrementally.

Programming is often something that is done in solitude. Problem solving is something that often is done in a group. Programming is always about problem solving. It is therefore natural to do programming in groups. The group must not be too large and there must be at least two persons to make up a reasonable group. A pair turns out as the natural choice.

Pair programming is most efficient when the pair sits next to each other. This is not always possible. I will therefore show how to setup a remote pair programming session and then do some programming with a remote partner.

Graspan: A Big Data System for Big Code AnalysisAftab Hussain
We built a disk-based parallel graph system, Graspan, that uses a novel edge-pair centric computation model to compute dynamic transitive closures on very large program graphs.
We implement context-sensitive pointer/alias and dataflow analyses on Graspan. An evaluation of these analyses on large codebases such as Linux shows that their Graspan implementations scale to millions of lines of code and are much simpler than their original implementations.
These analyses were used to augment the existing checkers; these augmented checkers found 132 new NULL pointer bugs and 1308 unnecessary NULL tests in Linux 4.4.0-rc5, PostgreSQL 8.3.9, and Apache httpd 2.2.18.
