PA DEP Consent Decree Against Waste Treatment Corporation for Warren, PA PlantMarcellus Drilling News
A proposed Consent Decree filed with the Commonwealth Court by the PA Dept. of Environmental Protection against Waste Treatment Corporation for their municipal sewage treatment plant in Warren, PA. The plant is discharging effluent that is too salty into the Allegheny River. Critics say the plant continues to accept and process Marcellus Shale frack wastewater. However, the plant says that practice ended in 2011. The Consent Decree, if it is accepted (after a 30 day public comment period) will gradually reduce the amount of TDS (total dissolved solids) the plant can discharge.
Five Earth First protesters were arrested for blocking the entrance to a shale drilling site in Lycoming County, PA. The site is located in the Tiadaghton State Forest. The protesters endangered their own lives and the lives of first responders by chainging themselves to a solid concrete pipe made with shrapnel embedded that had to be cut away with great care to protect the idiots chained to it.
New York Court of Appeals Decision to Uphold Town Bans of Marcellus/Utica Dri...Marcellus Drilling News
The decision by New York's highest court, the Court of Appeals, that allows towns to outright ban fracking and shale drilling townwide. A disgusting decision that violates the U.S. Constitution. The justices should be ashamed of themselves for trampling on the rights of landowners. There will now never be any meaningful shale drilling in New York.
Pictures of participants from a You Defend It Debate held on Feb. 24, 2014 at Binghamton University. The moderator was Rob Kilmer (Binghamton attorney). Arguing in favor of fracking and shale drilling was John Holko, president of Lenape Resources. Arguing against was Sandra Steingraber, founder of New Yorkers Against Fracking.
Ohio Dept. of Health Guidelines for Analyzing Samples of Oil & Gas Wastes for...Marcellus Drilling News
Guidelines from the Ohio Dept. of Health that regulate how samples of oil and gas drilling wastes should be analyzed, part of the testing program to determine whether or not said wastes contain Technologically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (TENORM). The new guidelines were stipulated under the 2013 House Bill 59.
A study released by the analysts at consulting firm Deloitte that looks at the top issues facing the oil and gas sector. The study finds that within the next 5-6 years surging shale oil and natural gas production in the U.S. will "cut deeply" into OPEC's influence on setting world oil prices.
The results of a survey conducted digital PR agency Makovsky of some 1,600 U.S. residents living both in and outside of shale drilling areas about their knowledge and attitudes on the issue of hydraulic fracturing (fracking). This report offers conclusions and recommendations for how oil and gas companies can more effectively connect with the general public to convey their side of the fracking story. Very interesting survey and results! One tidbit: the survey finds that 57% of U.S. residents believe fracking to be a top 3 environmental issue.
