From Daily Decisions to Bottom Line: Connecting Product Work to Revenue by VP...
Editor's Notes
Hi I’m Jo from reframed, and we are changing the way the world consumes interacts with and shares video content.
Online Video is undenighably huge! With increased choice we no longer all watch the same things at the same time, and finding the moments in video that interest us has become harder.
But we still love discussing it. So our conversations around video are pushed away from the content onto different platforms.
But once there, lose context and joining in the conversation becomes harder, because we’re all out of sink. Social media works great with right now, but for recorded content, we run the risk of spoilers
Wouldn’t it be awesome in the conversation is synced to the video - so it doesn’t matter if the I’m watching the video an hour, a month and year after my friends. I can join in the conversation and understand the points they were trying to make.
We thought so, and that’s why we built Reframed
Reframed timestamps your comments at the moment when you start typing
And rather than displaying them as a long disconnected list that stretches on for pages and pages. We display them next to the video at the moment it’s relevant.
The comments are measured and displayed as a graph over the timeline, so I can scrub backwards and forwards finding the moments that are gathering interest, rather than having to watch the whole thing from start to finish.
When a short comment isn’t enough - the live chat style discussion threads, provides the opportunity for more debate
Each comment can be shared on social media, with a link that brings you straight into the video at the moment that is being discussed and in Twitter the video appears in the timeline and plays from the exact moment the comment the comment is relevant.
Users can keep track of all the comments they have made using reframed, on their dashboard. So wheather it’s a TED talk on you tube, documentary on vimeo or a political debate on britcove. You can keep track of all your favorite moments in video in one place.
We also have social mechanics to help aid discovery of new interesting content.
Reframed.tv allows anyone to start reframing videos right now on our site. But we are about to launch our Embeddable player, which will allow the reframed interface to be added to any other website - and bring the conversation to them. Our first client is Channel 4 News who will be able to drive and control the conversation around their video content on channel 4 news .com.
