Football And Pop Culture
As Americans, we all have multiple perspectives on life and what it brings to the table. We have our
opinions on what we think is the most common pop culture to man. Although there are many, there is
one thing that all Americans can probably agree on and cannot argue about, well, sometimes. In my
opinion, football would be the sport that most of the population can relate to while it brings everyone
together as it has for many generations. It plays a huge role in popularity; therefore, football has made
the name for itself as the most popular American sport across the nation. It is a common characteristic
in everyday lives and it will continue to live on and prosper through many generations to come. I have
learned how football is one of the most common, classic characteristic of American culture over the
years and my story behind my knowledge can tell it all. I would like to start off and say that we could
come up with many different characteristics that are common to American culture. Instead of naming
them all, we can oversee why American football is clearly one of them within people across the
nation. With it being a very high demanding sport in pop culture, I would like to say that people across
the nation can familiarize themselves more with football rather than other sports; for example,
basketball, softball, or even baseball. Whether it is a Friday night high school football game under the
lights, an exciting Saturday for college level, or a relaxing Sunday watching

Los Angeles Riots Essay
The history of African Americans in the United States is full of many periods of achievements, as well
as periods of struggle. The Los Angeles riots of 1992 were the result of many years of systematic
racism in the United States following the Civil Rights Movement. The beating and unjust trial of
Rodney King exposed the unfair and brutal treatment of African Americans by the police. As well as
the shooting of 15 year old Latasha Harlins 2 weeks after the beating of Rodney King to further ignite
hatred within African Americans in Los Angeles. What came forth was a week long riot not only
changed Los Angeles, but the United States. That is why the Los Angeles riots was the most
devastating, yet consequential, civil uproar in the history of the United States.
The beginnings of the riots came on March 3, 1991, when Rodney King was stopped and brutally
assaulted by police. King was stopped after a high speed chase police after police caught him
intoxicated and was subsequently forced out of the car (History.com). From there, police began to
unlawfully assault Rodney King, leaving him with a fractured skull, along with a broken cheekbone
(History.com). A witness, George Holliday, filmed the officers beating Rodney King; a day after the
tape was airing on CNN for the rest of the country to witness (Los Angeles Daily News). Four officers
were later arrested and put to trial a year later, however all of them were not pleaded guilty. The
verdict angered a massive amount of African

United States Nuclear Program Essay
Since its primary colonization by the British during the 1600 s, America has struggled with the
concept of freedom. Some people came for political or religious freedom and others were brought and
servants and fought for freedom. (Wallach 2010). In the 1700 s colonists openly sought to sever their
ties with England and to govern themselves. July 4, 1776 the Declaration of Independence showed the
world that America was free from someone else s rule. As a result, democracy spread around the world
as a government by the people, for the people, with America at its forefront as a world rolemodel and
superpower.

On December 21st, 1938, Nazi Germany accidently discovered nuclear fishionmaking it a major threat
to the entire world. As a result, the scientific community became alarmed that Germany might use the
energy to construct a bomb with the power to cause indescribable destruction. Scientists Albert
Einstein, who fled Nazi persecution, and Enrico Fermi, who escaped Fascist Italy, were living in the
United States at this time (The Manhattan Project Project 2017, para. 2). Both realized the significance
of this discovery and that President Roosevelt needed to be warned immediately. While Roosevelt did
not understand the need to start an atomic program, he agreed to slowly create one. In 1941, the
American effort began and on May 12, 1942, President Roosevelt officially created the Manhattan
project, the secret program to develop the atom bomb (The Manhattan Project n.d.). The atomic bomb
had two objectives: a quick end of World War II and possession by the U.S. (and not the U.S.S.R.),
would allow control of foreign policy (The Cold War n.d.). In addition, the U.S. wanted to protect
itself against direct attacks like Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor.Ultimately The Manhattan Projecy
created the most destructive warefare ever. It denoted the nuclear era s beginning. On July 16 1945 the
first atomic bomb was detonated, dubbed the trinity test.

Subliminal Context of Horror within Frankenstein by Mary...
Frankenstein deals with much. It has the obvious nightmarish terrors represented in the monster,
terrifying in both sight and murderous actions. There however exists a subliminal context of horror
within the narrative. The characters within the narrative reveal the moral shortcomings of humanity,
and when stripped to its base constructs, amount to little more than what the monster becomes. It
shows the psychological frailty of man, and when unhinged the dangers it is capable of. The civilized
mind can refer to both the individual and society, or humanity as a whole. It is also interesting and
worth to note the interaction and juxtaposition of the two entities interacting with each other; the
terrors within the individual under the cloak of a civilized mind intermingling with society and the
demons in hides away in the shadows. Fear is oftentimes the culprit of a mind s downfall. It
transforms average anxieties and typical __ into nightmarish terrors which run rampant in Gothic
Writing. It is why Gothic writing had, and stil has a foothold in the realm of literature, the texts within
the genre speak to the fears that incessantly itch the brain. One of these fears would be loneliness
(reword). Unwelcome solitude has the ability to drive a sane man to insanity and a mad man to
decrepitude. It is what first borne the ill will within the monster, for I was benevolent; my soul glowed
with love and humanity: but am I not alone, miserably alone? (100). Knowledge is the

Often kids seek these kinds of things out as means to fit in or feed some inner insecurity thinking since

itself? Part of your dreams might become reality soon, as Google engineers have already had test

Picture: Fictional Self Driving Car, Herbie
There are already cars that can park themselves, but a self driving car would be able to capture images
of the road, identify alternative route and prevent traffic even before human eye can detect it. Wouldn t
it be fun to have a car that drives by itself on the way home from a tired day at the office?
Since 95% of road accident happen due to human error, this self driving car can prevent major
accidents on the road. This google cars can also reduce the amount of time used waiting for traffic
clearance. This saves you a lot of time, beside the lives of others. These Google cars will have data
about the roads and the surrounding. When it is driven, it will be able to detect any changes (like
pedestrians crossing the road), analyze it and make a proper response (stopping to let the pedestrian
cross). Even though this seems kind of impossible for now, you can except this to be in the showroom
in the next few decades, and it will surely make a great cocktail party conversation.

Amazing Grace by Jonathan Kozol Essay
Jonathan Kozol s book, Amazing Grace, analyzes the lives of the people living in the dilapidated
district of South Bronx, New York. Kozol spends time touring the streets with children, talking to
parents, and discussing the appalling living conditions and safety concerns that plague the residents in
the inner cities of New York. In great detail, he describes the harsh lifestyles that the poverty stricken
families are forced into; day in and day out. Disease, hunger, crime, and drugs are of the few everyday
problems that the people in Kozol s book face; however, many of these people continue to maintain a
very religious and positive outlook on life. Jonathan Kozol s investigation on the lifestyle of these

When Kozol discovers Cliffie s heroes are Michael Jackson and Oprah he inquires, Have you read
about George Washington? Cliffie answers, I don t even know the man (Kozol 8). This quote suggests
the lack of legitimate education that these children are receiving in school. The teachers in the district
are not always certified and the classroom environment is less than desirable. Kozol visited an area
where, only 15 teachers in a faculty of 54 were certified. (Kozol 155). The relation between most of
the inner city kids and their teachers results in a vicious cycle. The kids can be unruly and disruptive,
therefore the teacher, often times may feel hesitant to put forward effort into his/her teaching. Due to
the lack of teaching and discipline, the students may continue to be ignorant and incompliant with
authority. With the continuation of this process and the lack of an authoritative figure at home or at
school, some children may grow up and become involved in crime related activities.
In addition to Kozol s educational related complaints, he stresses the healthcare problems that plague
the downtrodden people as well. On the book jacket, Kozol states that: One fourth of the child bearing
women in the neighborhoods where these children live test positive for HIV. The hospitals in the area

Issues In The Progressive Era
The Progressive Era was a time period of widespread social activism and political reform across the
United States, from the 1890s to 1920s. The issues that the progressives attack were big business,
political rights, and social justice. During this time there were many Politician s that were involved
along with other people to.
Big businesses were major problem during the progressive era. The progressives didn t want big
companies to have control of monopolies and trust groups that controlled an entire industry. It could in
turn exploit both the worker and consumer. In the 1980 s the Anti Trust Act was pasted. This act wasn

During this time of the Progressive Era woman s right to vote and the 19th Amendment were in
consideration. This was a slow effort that built over the entire progressive era, and only became
successful with woman s efforts in World War 1 and prohibition. States started to adopt women s
suffrage one by one starting in 1867 with Wyoming and spreading from there. African Americans
chose to be ignored from the progressive movement.
Another problem the Progressives had to deal with was Social Justice. This issue was a bigger hill for
the progressives to climb. The problems they had to correct were Child Labor laws, minimum wage
and shorter work weeks. Jane Addams worked day in and day out to give new immigrants a fair shot
at life. Women also lead a march for prohibition of alcohol in groups like WCTU and the Anti Saloon
League.
The political leaders of the Progressive Era Were President Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard
Taft, and Woodrow Wilson. President Teddy Roosevelt is notorious for the making of the progressive
reform. William Taft was Roosevelt s successor but was not a progressive. He angered
conservationists by removing 1 million acres of forest and mining lands from the reserved list and

Essay on Remember the titans Informal Roles of Characters
Remember The Titans was a movie that was set in a very hostile time in our country. We were in the
middle of what I like to call a civil war. Although there were no battles or gunfights our country was
torn in half. There was an issue dealing with race in the United States. The movie, Remember the
Titans is based on actual events that occurred in the year 1971. Mainly on the integration of a school
called TC Williams High School. When the school was integrated the old football coach, Coach Yoast,
was let go and a black coach Herman Boone was hired on. The main plot of this movie is regarding
the coaching change in the school and the 1971 football season the TC Williams Titans have. nbsp;

Leadership is shown in many ways in the movie and leadership is represented through main
characters. Coach Boone first of all represents the entire black community overcoming the oppression
that they have experienced through all of the years. He exhibits the determination that is inside all of
the players to win the state championship nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Of course the coach is going to
be the team leader but the kids also need a peer to step up and be a leader. In a not so informal role
Gerry Bertier rises to the challenge and establishes himself as the team leader. He shows us this a few
times in the movie. Once when he approaches one of the other players, Julius Campbell, and asks him
why he is playing so selfish. Gerry then listens to his teammate s opinion and acts accordingly to do
what is best for the team, because that is what leaders do, even if it mean calling out his best friend
and making him step it up. Gerry also represents the inspiration of the team because every time the
team is down he picks them up and brings them together. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Another
important role that is established by one of the players is the role of the magnet that finally brings the
black kids and the white kids together. This role is taken on by Louie Lastik. He takes this role when
he s the first one to approach the other black kids and make friends with them. He shows us his role

Big Impacts On My Childhood
When I think of big impacts on my childhood, heroes are definitely near the top. Whether it was
Legolas from Lord of the Rings or Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, I wanted to save the world. Maybe that
s why I fell in love with comics early on. I wanted the admiration from my peers that these heroes got
from me, and yet, the world doesn t work that way. I realized pretty quickly that it wasn t like in the
movies and comics. The world didn t exist to give you a pat on the back whenever you did a good
deed. Maybe that s why from the moment I picked up my first XMEN comic, I fell in love. FINALLY
there were heroes who lived in a more realistic society. The world they protected, shunned them. They
were spat on by those they saved. Here I was, a geeky, straight A, small, spindly little fourth grader
with glasses and flood pants who had always tried to be the hero. Finally I had found a group of
people who were as unappreciated as I felt. It seems as though many others felt that way too, and
quickly Xmen became Marvels crowning glory, yet as the newest generation rolls in, Marvel has had a
stroke of luck with a film deal of the Avengers series, and of course the population eats it up. It seems
as though Marvel has been putting a lot of effort into anything Avengers since Fox owns the rights to
Xmen. This unfortunate fact makes me bitter because Xmen contains much more positive messaging
for audiences than the currently more successful Avengers. Xmen hasn t been getting much love

Ruthven (1990), Alexander (1993), Pavia (1996), Porzio (1997), and Abalajon (2001). A few studies,
however, specifically that of 2 Army (1991) and Tolias (1993) found that the use of this

Pupil Population Analysis
Later, we will test our hypothesis and perform tests to check for heteroscedasticity, multicollinearity,
and serial correlation. For now, we will explain why we chose our variables. We believe each of our
independent variables play a significant role in determining the spending per pupil. Unemployment
rate affect spending because the state government will often increase education spending when
unemployment is high. Unemployment is often linked to lower education level and each state
government would most likely want to change that aspect of their community. The best way to do that
is to create jobs or increase education. This same logic goes for the independent variables percent of
poverty level, and black percentage of population. The percentage ... Show more content on

Federal aid is a variable that focuses on monetary need to begin with. So it is not surprising that it is
correlated with our model. Unemployment is a related factor because when there is high
unemployment, the economy of your state is not doing well, so there will be less resources for state
funding for schools.
After this, we see urbanization is a direct factor. This is because as more people move to cities, the
more money funding they have in that area for schools. If you have 5,000 students attending a school,
they are going to get more state funding than a school of 50. State spending per pupil on schools
overall as a model is very important because the more resources you have per student the more you
can teach them. You can get better equipment, better materials, better teachers, the list goes on and on.
After looking at which variables were important in our model, we can see that money is the main
influencer. If you want your child to have a good education, is best to live in a state that is doing very
well financially. We can see a trend here as well because people who make the most money tend to be
the ones who are most educated. As we start to have our own families and raising children we will not
be aware of which factors influence the money spent per students when choosing which school district
to live

with planes of color used in the foreground and on objects to create space and depth of perspective.
Texture is used to create a tonal harmony devoid of tactile or sensual appeal, therefore portraying
volume.
However, Cezanne leaves little room for color and volume to play their great roles as light diffuses to
the balanced tints of ochre. Space is created by the absolute stillness of the piece thereby affirming the
painter as a great master of composition, color, and design. Further, the piece features complex fields
that create an abstraction by the artist s sensitive and repetitive brushstrokes. Cezanne is portraying the
complexity of man s visual perception ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The quill, writing materials, and journals are reminiscent of moral messages and the closed book is a
show of knowledge formerly held by the skull. The mature fruits depicted on the painting by Paul
Cezanne symbolize abundance and fertility, which is figuratively used to mean well being and
wellness. The flowers on the background mean folly and mortal sin of laziness (Platzman 2001, 116).
The glasses are representative of vanity, as is the reflection shown on the still life with a skull and

Having identified the areas of improvement, Porter started a Quality Improvement Program (QIP) to
enhance the customer service level of its service team. The training included provision of training on
customer contact skills to technicians, redefining of service guidelines, development of customer
satisfaction surveying system and a bonus system for awarding outstanding performed technicians
evaluated by customers.
The QIP program was generally able to improve overall service level and customer satisfaction
towards the inspection team. In a customer satisfaction survey conducted in November 1991 (6
months after the first survey and QIP), it showed that customers perception on Roscoe s technicians,
particular in the area of level of courtesy, organization of work and willingness to make extra effort,
were all improved. Yet, it was observed in the second customer satisfaction survey that customers
evaluations of the overall performance of Roscoe were only slightly improved. There was still more
than 40% of customers believed that Roscoe s service was not value for their money.

Pew Charitable Trust Report
According to a Pew Charitable Trust report, more than half of Americans have less than one month of
income saved in case of emergency. This is in direct contradiction to the advice given by most
financial experts to have at least three to six months living expenses on hand for unexpected
situations, such as a job loss. It is interesting to note that all levels of income had the same lack of
savings; therefore, it is not necessarily a problem with the amount of income, but instead with an
inability to save. So, in order to get the nation where it should be in terms of savings, there should be a
great emphasis on educating the average American on how to go about creating a savings. Make an

The Purpose Of Ideology
1. ideology Meaning and Philosophy
Ideology is a system of meaning that helps define and explain the world and that makes value
judgements about that world. It refers not only to the beliefs held about the world but also to the basic
ways in which the world is defined (Croteau, Hoynes, and Milan 1953). Ideology is a body of ideas
concerning economic, social and political values and goals which posit action programmes for

Link between ideology and media
The ideology of the media is broad and manifests in the communicativity of the media. To facilitate
ideological analysis, however, the key is the fit between the images and texts in a specific media
output, plus the manner thought and discussion on social and cultural issues. Questions, however, arise
as to how the media content (shaped by ideologies) depict real life. This begs the question of function
and ethics. The ideological analysis further attempts to answer questions about what the media
messages depict of the society and its people.
This underscores why politicians have long perceived mass media as a veritable channel of
disseminating an ideology so that the society can mirror itself against what the media feeds it and thus
be manipulated. This further begs the question of whether the media is a contributor or otherwise to
societal problems in the face of political ideological dissemination.
Furthermore, the media and ideology are interconnected in the following ways (Asemah, 2011):
i. The media serves as a channel for communication of ideologies ii. Media function requires its
representation of concepts of reality within and without the local environment to the

Harriet Jacobs And Frederick Douglas
The narratives of Harriet Jacobs and Frederick Douglas were nothing short of powerful as their unique
resilience reflected a gruesome upbringing that would then influence audiences everywhere.
Immediately the reader is introduced to the gendered distinctions in narratives as Douglas has letters
and statements of prominent men reinforce the validity of his work while Jacobs is forced to create a
pleading tone for acknowledgement of her experience as a female slave. Although slavery was an
excruciating experience that unjustly plagued millions of African Americans, gender roles and
constructs allowed for distinct offenses that forced women to experience unique abuse relative to their
male counterparts. The narratives of Harriet Jacobs and Frederick Douglas reinforced the trials of
slavery with examples of educational hardship, physical trauma and differing aspirations of freedom.
These factors and a few others such as motherhood and masculinity influenced their legacy in context
of slavery as a gendered experience.
The distinct introduction to each of their lives not only set an impression for the reader but also serves
as a precursor to the different aspirations and dreams of escape that Jacobs and Douglas distinctly had.
Beginning with Jacobs her narrative was written around her scarce time when she was not tending to
household duties and avoiding the unclean images her master regularly imposed on her. Jacobs did not
have informal education as frequent as Douglass and

Fallen Societies of Germany, China, Sierra Leone, and the...
Ever wondered what it would be like to live in a perfect society? Truth is, there are no perfect societies
due to the many reasons that lead them to fall. So why do societies fall? Many great societies have
fallen due to corrupt leaders, scarcity in necessary resources, and sickness. Germany, China, Sierra
Leone, and the fictional society of Ember, are all examples of how once great societies fall. All of
these societies fell due to corrupt leaders, resource scarcity, and sickness. The society of Ember,
China, Sierra Leone, and Germany, have fallen due to corrupt leader, resource scarcity, and sickness.

Argumentative Essay On National Night Out
I never knew of National Night Out until a couple of weeks ago, when at church, it was mentioned as
an excellent opportunity to connect with one s community. Growing up in a cul de sac with a bunch of
older couples, my siblings and I were always playing all by ourselves. We were limited by the absence
of other neighborhood kids. I acutely remember the pain of not being able to play with any others,
other than my younger siblings. Being part of a vibrant neighborhood community, however, was not
just something that was missing for us, as we lived in a cul de sac. The vista of a neighborhood street
filled with children and families on porches in the evenings after dinner is nothing but a scene in a
movie today. It is a dream of bygone times. We as Americans in general live lives wholly disconnected
from those that live around us. We stay inside, when we re home, and then abscond into our cars as we
drive away to work each day. Our interactions with our neighbors is kept to a minimum. National
Night Out, which is today, August 1, is an annual community building campaign that promotes police
community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring
places to live, for it is known that the lack of a true sense of community weakens the local economy,
isn t conducive to a healthy environment, and breeds disrespect among peoples urban planning and

The Mystery Of Economic Growth
Introduction: Economists have always been asked why and how economic growth exists in a world
filled with so much disparity between the richest and the poorest. First we need to define economic
growth as that which is measured by change in real income per capita(Parker, 2015). Arguably Adam
Smith was one of the first economists to develop a sound theory of the classical free market in his
piece The Wealth of Nations written in 1776. Much has changed since the 1700s across the world
horizons. Things aren t as simplistic as we once thought they were. Some countries have gained
exorbitant amounts of wealth, while others have withered away at the expense of the more privileged.
So lies the question of whether or not we can compensate the ... Show more content on

More specifically, countries that focus on physical and human capital accumulation and improving
their total factor productivity should continue to see sustained growth as long as they continue to
innovate. Innovation and constant change is key in order to keep an economy growing. Information is
one resource in this world that we could define as infinite. An economy with an infinite amount of
supply in theory is an economy that will continue to grow. Ultimately, Helpman concludes that
understanding institutions are the missing key to truly understanding growth economics. In this case
we can take the United States, Argentina, South Africa, and South Korea, and compare specific
variables such as investment in education to more accurately predict future growth. Further analyses
of these countries using Helpman s models are done in the Data section below.
Essentially, Elhanan Helpman argues that GDP is a far too simplistic tool used for measuring
economic growth. Instead we should use a total factor productivity or TFP for short to measure an
economy s strength. TFP takes into account confounding variables that make each country unique and
would in most cases skew GDP. There are too many determinants in a country that factor into
economic grow, and many more indirect determinants or exogenous factors that can sometimes skew
measurements. Each country in the world is unique in every way imaginable. Helpman argues that

A Different Way At Scaffolding Safety Tips
A different way to look at scaffolding safety tips
My experience with League of legends and applying it to scaffolding
After completing high school, I found myself spending most of my time on the computer, mostly
playing games. One of my favorite games I spent the most time on was League of legends. Basically
there two teams that get to pick from a roster of over 100 champions to fight against each other in an
arena. The goal of the game is to take out the enemy teams nexus. Every game I try to avoid dying to
the enemy team by being as safe as possible. Safety is also very important in scaffolding. Construction
is a very hazardous industry with falls being the leading cause of death. Safety is very important to me

Finding the balance is crucial to winning the game. Similarly construction projects in scaffolding want
to be completed in a respectable amount of time. Speed is usually important when it comes to these
construction projects, but the workers safety is even more important. Basically you want to get the job
done quickly, but with the least amount of risk to the workers. Kee Safety s Mike Mumau said the real
issue is how do you build something in a fast, efficient way, and still be profitable without putting the
workers at risk. The balance between the two is important for construction projects.
2. Organization Teams in league of legends need to be organized during a match. A team that is
organized is more likely to win the game. Deaths can be avoiding if your team is positioned well on
the map. If you shouldn t be there in the first place, why would you go? A teammate that is alone on a
certain part of the map and isn t doing anything that will help the team shouldn t be there. Usually not
being grouped with your team will lead to an easy kill for the enemy team. You want to be in the right
places at the right times. It is generally safer when you are with your team instead of being alone.
Organization is also important in the workplace of scaffolding. The highest amount of safety
violations happen because of slips, trips, and falls. It can be avoiding with worksite organization.

Summary and Reflection of Nihon Furisode Hajime by...
On Sunday, March 9, 2014, I had a great opportunity to watch Nihon Furisode Hajime, a Kabuki play
held in Kabukiza theatre in Tokyo, Japan. The production was written by the pen name Chikamatsu
Monzaemon whose actual name is Nobumori Sugomori. The play was formerly created for the puppet
theatre, Bunraku, and was first staged in Osaka in 1718. Also, it was first performed in Kyoto after it
has immediately reformed to Kabuki during the same month.
Nihon Furisode Hajime is a fictional story about the fight between an eight headed serpent and
Susanoo. As a yearly ceremonial, the townspeople brought Princess Inada to the Izumo Mountain, the
site where the annual sacrifice for the serpent is dedicated. The serpent, disguised as an ugly princess,
was attracted to jars full of sake before she was able to attack Princess Inada. Knowing that the sake
wine will weaken the serpent, a hero named Susanoo used set up the jars of sake wine as a trap against
the serpent. Susanoo then attacked and defeated the drunken eight headed serpent and saved Princess
Inada.
There are three main characters in the production. The first main character of the play is Princess
Iwanaga. She is a jealous woman whose spirit has become the eight headed serpent. Due to her
insecurities of being called ugly, she threatens and demands the villagers to send her every year the
body of the most beautiful girl in town. Another important character named Princess Inada is a young

A frequent theme in literature is the conflict between the individual and society. In Lord of the Flies by

baby boys have a Brit Milah (Circumcision) at 8 days old that forms a special bond between G d and

Does The Right To Religion Include The Right To Impose...
Does the right to religion include the right to impose your views on others? Does it include the right to
impose on customers and patients seeking services that you offer to the public? Does it include the
right for buisnesses to slam the door on customers in their shops, in their bakieries, in their hospitals
because they disagree with the person seeking services personal life? Why is it that businesses allowed
to use religion as an excuse for this blatant discrimination against the LGBTQ community?
In history, conflicts of this nature are not uncommon; in the civil rights era, we witnessed resistance to
racial integration on basis of religious liberty. Take for example, Piggie Park, a barbecue franchise in
South Carolina. The owner argued that, his religious beliefs compel[ed] him to oppose any integration
of the races whatever. In the case Loving v. Virginia, religion was also involved with resisting
interracial marriage. The court judge had stated that, Almighty God...did not intend for the races to
mix. In every case, the court found the principals of non discrimination to outweigh the concerns over
religious freedom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Football And PopCulture As Americans, we all have multiple perspectives on life and what it brings to the table. We have our opinions on what we think is the most common pop culture to man. Although there are many, there is one thing that all Americans can probably agree on and cannot argue about, well, sometimes. In my opinion, football would be the sport that most of the population can relate to while it brings everyone together as it has for many generations. It plays a huge role in popularity; therefore, football has made the name for itself as the most popular American sport across the nation. It is a common characteristic in everyday lives and it will continue to live on and prosper through many generations to come. I have learned how football is one of the most common, classic characteristic of American culture over the years and my story behind my knowledge can tell it all. I would like to start off and say that we could come up with many different characteristics that are common to American culture. Instead of naming them all, we can oversee why American football is clearly one of them within people across the nation. With it being a very high demanding sport in pop culture, I would like to say that people across the nation can familiarize themselves more with football rather than other sports; for example, basketball, softball, or even baseball. In 1941, the American effort began and on May 12, 1942, President Roosevelt officially created the Manhattan project, the secret program to develop the atom bomb (The Manhattan Project n.d.). Subliminal Context ofHorror within Frankenstein by Mary... Frankenstein deals with much. It has the obvious nightmarish terrors represented in the monster, terrifying in both sight and murderous actions. There however exists a subliminal context of horror within the narrative. The characters within the narrative reveal the moral shortcomings of humanity, and when stripped to its base constructs, amount to little more than what the monster becomes. It shows the psychological frailty of man, and when unhinged the dangers it is capable of. The civilized mind can refer to both the individual and society, or humanity as a whole. It is also interesting and worth to note the interaction and juxtaposition of the two entities interacting with each other; the terrors within the individual under the cloak of a civilized mind intermingling with society and the demons in hides away in the shadows. Fear is oftentimes the culprit of a mind s downfall. It transforms average anxieties and typical __ into nightmarish terrors which run rampant in Gothic Writing. It is why Gothic writing had, and stil has a foothold in the realm of literature, the texts within the genre speak to the fears that incessantly itch the brain. One of these fears would be loneliness (reword). Unwelcome solitude has the ability to drive a sane man to insanity and a mad man to decrepitude. It is what first borne the ill will within the monster, for I was benevolent; my soul glowed with love and humanity: but am I not alone, miserably alone? (100). Knowledge is the ... Big Impacts OnMy Childhood When I think of big impacts on my childhood, heroes are definitely near the top. Whether it was Legolas from Lord of the Rings or Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, I wanted to save the world. Maybe that s why I fell in love with comics early on. I wanted the admiration from my peers that these heroes got from me, and yet, the world doesn t work that way. I realized pretty quickly that it wasn t like in the movies and comics. The world didn t exist to give you a pat on the back whenever you did a good deed. Maybe that s why from the moment I picked up my first XMEN comic, I fell in love. FINALLY there were heroes who lived in a more realistic society. The world they protected, shunned them. They were spat on by those they saved. Here I was, a geeky, straight A, small, spindly little fourth grader with glasses and flood pants who had always tried to be the hero. Finally I had found a group of people who were as unappreciated as I felt. It seems as though many others felt that way too, and quickly Xmen became Marvels crowning glory, yet as the newest generation rolls in, Marvel has had a stroke of luck with a film deal of the Avengers series, and of course the population eats it up. It seems as though Marvel has been putting a lot of effort into anything Avengers since Fox owns the rights to Xmen. Pupil Population Analysis Later,we will test our hypothesis and perform tests to check for heteroscedasticity, multicollinearity, and serial correlation. For now, we will explain why we chose our variables. We believe each of our independent variables play a significant role in determining the spending per pupil. Unemployment rate affect spending because the state government will often increase education spending when unemployment is high. Unemployment is often linked to lower education level and each state government would most likely want to change that aspect of their community. The best way to do that is to create jobs or increase education. This same logic goes for the independent variables percent of poverty level, and black percentage of population. The percentage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Federal aid is a variable that focuses on monetary need to begin with. So it is not surprising that it is correlated with our model. Unemployment is a related factor because when there is high unemployment, the economy of your state is not doing well, so there will be less resources for state funding for schools. After this, we see urbanization is a direct factor. This is because as more people move to cities, the more money funding they have in that area for schools. If you have 5,000 students attending a school, they are going to get more state funding than a school of 50. State spending per pupil on schools overall as a model is very important because the more resources you have per student the more you can teach them. You can get better equipment, better materials, better teachers, the list goes on and on. After looking at which variables were important in our model, we can see that money is the main influencer. If you want your child to have a good education, is best to live in a state that is doing very well financially. Still Life WithSkull Essay Still Life with Skull by Paul Cezanne was completed in 1898 during the Post Impressionist era commonly known as the final period. The piece features a skull, fruits, and a piece of white cloth placed on a table. It takes the vanitas genre of art, done using oil on canvas measuring 65.4 cm by 54.3 cm which is exhibited at the Barnes Foundation, Merion, Pennsylvania, USA (Lindsay 1969, 23). This work represents a powerful and essential link between the materialistic artistic movement of Expressionism and the ephemeral features of Impressionism. The painting features a dark background with planes of color used in the foreground and on objects to create space and depth of perspective. Texture is used to create a tonal harmony devoid of tactile or sensual appeal, therefore portraying volume. However, Cezanne leaves little room for color and volume to play their great roles as light diffuses to the balanced tints of ochre. Space is created by the absolute stillness of the piece thereby affirming the painter as a great master of composition, color, and design. Further, the piece features complex fields that create an abstraction by the artist s sensitive and repetitive brushstrokes. Cezanne is portraying the complexity of man s visual perception ... It is interesting to note that all levels of income had the same lack of savings; therefore, it is not necessarily a problem with the amount of income, but instead with an inability to save. This underscores why politicians have long perceived mass media as a veritable channel of disseminating an ideology so that the society can mirror itself against what the media feeds it and thus be manipulated. Harriet Jacobs AndFrederick Douglas The narratives of Harriet Jacobs and Frederick Douglas were nothing short of powerful as their unique resilience reflected a gruesome upbringing that would then influence audiences everywhere. Immediately the reader is introduced to the gendered distinctions in narratives as Douglas has letters and statements of prominent men reinforce the validity of his work while Jacobs is forced to create a pleading tone for acknowledgement of her experience as a female slave. Although slavery was an excruciating experience that unjustly plagued millions of African Americans, gender roles and constructs allowed for distinct offenses that forced women to experience unique abuse relative to their male counterparts. The narratives of Harriet Jacobs and Frederick Douglas reinforced the trials of slavery with examples of educational hardship, physical trauma and differing aspirations of freedom. These factors and a few others such as motherhood and masculinity influenced their legacy in context of slavery as a gendered experience. Argumentative Essay OnNational Night Out I never knew of National Night Out until a couple of weeks ago, when at church, it was mentioned as an excellent opportunity to connect with one s community. Growing up in a cul de sac with a bunch of older couples, my siblings and I were always playing all by ourselves. We were limited by the absence of other neighborhood kids. I acutely remember the pain of not being able to play with any others, other than my younger siblings. Being part of a vibrant neighborhood community, however, was not just something that was missing for us, as we lived in a cul de sac. The vista of a neighborhood street filled with children and families on porches in the evenings after dinner is nothing but a scene in a movie today. It is a dream of bygone times. We as Americans in general live lives wholly disconnected from those that live around us. We stay inside, when we re home, and then abscond into our cars as we drive away to work each day. Our interactions with our neighbors is kept to a minimum. National Night Out, which is today, August 1, is an annual community building campaign that promotes police community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live, for it is known that the lack of a true sense of community weakens the local economy, isn t conducive to a healthy environment, and breeds disrespect among peoples urban planning and smart neighborhood development are not only good for the environment, despite such ... The Mystery OfEconomic Growth Introduction: Economists have always been asked why and how economic growth exists in a world filled with so much disparity between the richest and the poorest. First we need to define economic growth as that which is measured by change in real income per capita(Parker, 2015). Arguably Adam Smith was one of the first economists to develop a sound theory of the classical free market in his piece The Wealth of Nations written in 1776. Much has changed since the 1700s across the world horizons. Things aren t as simplistic as we once thought they were. Some countries have gained exorbitant amounts of wealth, while others have withered away at the expense of the more privileged. So lies the question of whether or not we can compensate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More specifically, countries that focus on physical and human capital accumulation and improving their total factor productivity should continue to see sustained growth as long as they continue to innovate. Innovation and constant change is key in order to keep an economy growing. Information is one resource in this world that we could define as infinite. An economy with an infinite amount of supply in theory is an economy that will continue to grow. Ultimately, Helpman concludes that understanding institutions are the missing key to truly understanding growth economics. In this case we can take the United States, Argentina, South Africa, and South Korea, and compare specific variables such as investment in education to more accurately predict future growth. Further analyses of these countries using Helpman s models are done in the Data section below. Essentially, Elhanan Helpman argues that GDP is a far too simplistic tool used for measuring economic growth. Instead we should use a total factor productivity or TFP for short to measure an economy s strength. TFP takes into account confounding variables that make each country unique and would in most cases skew GDP. There are too many determinants in a country that factor into economic grow, and many more indirect determinants or exogenous factors that can sometimes skew measurements. Each country in the world is unique in every way imaginable. Helpman argues that new models ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Different WayAt Scaffolding Safety Tips A different way to look at scaffolding safety tips My experience with League of legends and applying it to scaffolding After completing high school, I found myself spending most of my time on the computer, mostly playing games. One of my favorite games I spent the most time on was League of legends. Basically there two teams that get to pick from a roster of over 100 champions to fight against each other in an arena. The goal of the game is to take out the enemy teams nexus. Every game I try to avoid dying to the enemy team by being as safe as possible. Safety is also very important in scaffolding. Construction is a very hazardous industry with falls being the leading cause of death. Safety is very important to me in league of legends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finding the balance is crucial to winning the game. Similarly construction projects in scaffolding want to be completed in a respectable amount of time. Speed is usually important when it comes to these construction projects, but the workers safety is even more important. Basically you want to get the job done quickly, but with the least amount of risk to the workers. Kee Safety s Mike Mumau said the real issue is how do you build something in a fast, efficient way, and still be profitable without putting the workers at risk. The balance between the two is important for construction projects. 2. Organization Teams in league of legends need to be organized during a match. A team that is organized is more likely to win the game. Deaths can be avoiding if your team is positioned well on the map. If you shouldn t be there in the first place, why would you go? A teammate that is alone on a certain part of the map and isn t doing anything that will help the team shouldn t be there. Usually not being grouped with your team will lead to an easy kill for the enemy team. You want to be in the right places at the right times. It is generally safer when you are with your team instead of being alone. Organization is also important in the workplace of scaffolding. The highest amount of safety violations happen because of slips, trips, and falls. It can be avoiding with worksite organization. Specifically tripping can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On EroiaConcert On February 19, 2017, I attended one of the concerts in Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra s (ISO) Telamon classical series, Beethoven s Eroica at the Palladium in Carmel. I went with the doctor I shadow as well as another student, his son, and a friend of Dr. Arthur. I was initially invited over to the Arthurs to babysit so that his friend could attend the show but was told to dress nice in case there was a chance that I might go. When I arrived, Dr. Arthur changed his mind because he had extra tickets and said how we were going to commit a faux pas we brought an eight month old baby to the concert. We were seated in the box on the right side of the theatre and had a complete view of the orchestra. This was a Sunday afternoon and the Palladium was hardly filled. There were three concertos: Stravinsky s Symphonies of Wind Instruments, Adams s Concerto for Saxophone and Orchestra, and Beethoven s Symphony No. 3 in E flat Major, Op. 55 ( Eroica ). I attended this concert before learning of Beethoven in class, but Dr. Arthur still informed me of how Beethoven had originally written this concerto to honor Napoleon Bonaparte but had scratched out his ... The piece was not meant to please the audience, and understandingly so. I did not actually enjoy the music until Beethoven s Eroica began. The first half of the show was interesting to hear and watch, but there was a lot of dissonance. There were sharp sounds, abrupt chords, and irregular phrases. The passages were in blended timbres and the instruments used were oboes, the French horn, English horn, and contrabassoon. The tonality was hard to distinguish as the sounds were all over the place including instrument solos. The overall dynamics of the concert ranged from mezzo piano to piano and then ended with ... Lord Of TheFlies Individual Vs Society Analysis A frequent theme in literature is the conflict between the individual and society. In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Piggy struggles the most out of all the boys with the society on the island. He is not used to surviving in the wilderness, hunting, and taking care of himself with no help from grown ups. He attempts many times to change the violent island society to the orderly society they had back home in England, but the others refuse listen. Piggy is dedicated to the ideals of order and civilization. He seems to fit in least of all on the island. When they first realize that they have crash landed on an island, Piggy can not believe that there are no grown ups, and asks, Aren t there any grownups at all? (8). He relies on the ... Does The RightTo Religion Include The Right To Impose... Does the right to religion include the right to impose your views on others? Does it include the right to impose on customers and patients seeking services that you offer to the public? Does it include the right for buisnesses to slam the door on customers in their shops, in their bakieries, in their hospitals because they disagree with the person seeking services personal life? Why is it that businesses allowed to use religion as an excuse for this blatant discrimination against the LGBTQ community? In history, conflicts of this nature are not uncommon; in the civil rights era, we witnessed resistance to racial integration on basis of religious liberty. Take for example, Piggie Park, a barbecue franchise in South Carolina. The owner argued that, his religious beliefs compel[ed] him to oppose any integration of the races whatever. In the case Loving v. Virginia, religion was also involved with resisting interracial marriage. The court judge had stated that, Almighty God...did not intend for the races to mix. In every case, the court found the principals of non discrimination to outweigh the concerns over religious freedom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
