tourismthat occurs inthe range of seventoeightmillionpeople comingtothe province duringthe
summerseasonespeciallytothe northernregion.Similarythe statistictsof Pakistanforthe year2011
and 2012 have beentoucheduponthatitdroppedto a 0.7 millionfromoveramillion.
The devolutionprocesshasbeentermedtoa cause of decline inforeignarrivals.Thishasbeenrelated
to the non preparednessof the provincesforthe assumptionof itsresponsibilitiesafter2011 whenthe
ministrystanddissolved.The workof Tourismcorporation,TouristServiceswingandPak- Austrian
institute of Hotel Trainingandmanagementhave beenhighlighted. The Departmentof Tourismand
provincial governmenthasalsobeenpaintedappropriate.
CurrentChallengesandfuture strategy
Sluggisheconomicgrowth,energycrisis,detoriatedinfrastructure ,marketingunclearinstitutional
regime,outdatedpolicies, limitedsectorspecificinformation,capacitybuildingandregulationare
enumeratedasmainattributorsforimprovement.
Future strategyhasbeenmainlydefinedasthe enhancementof vertical andhorizontalimprovementsin
the challenges.SimplyasinStrengths,weaknesses,opportunityandthreatsmethodolyapplied.
Investmentclimate
Tourismone wayor the otherisrelatedtothe enablingenvironthathasnotbeenupto the mark.
Publicprivate partnershipwithclearvisionincludingthe Tourismauthorityconcepthasbeen
emphasizedatleastformore inflowof capital.A comprehensive package of check,balance and
monitoringhasbeenrecommended.
Ground realities
The KhyberPakhtunkhwaispartiallyprovinciallytribal areainthe northand federallyadministered
tribal area havingsubsidizedsystemof servicesdeliversystem.Thereneedstobe similarsetof
regulationandincentivesthe province tohave amarket orientedapproach.The heritage of the province
basedon thousandsof yearsof history, traditionsandcustoms.The unique tribal societyof the
pukhtoonslive irrespectiveof internationalboundariesinthispartof the world.The traditionsof camel
caravans and businessfromancienttimeshasbeenhere thathave beenfacilitatedwithbetter
transportationmachinery.The foreststhatare the importantnatural assethasseendecline ratherthan
increase the flashfloodsare awitnesstoit.Strongcultural bondage allowsatbestthe environmental
friendlytourismwithablendof heritage pilgrimage forthose infareast.
The geo strategiclocationandvolatile circumstancessince the firstU2was shotdownby Ex Union of
sovietsocialistrepublic,corridorof Wakhanto central asiaand China includingacouple of other

cost of doingbusinessand increase ininvestments
