The APSRTC has faced continuous fare hikes over the years which has burdened common travelers. Fares have increased by 2.5-24% each year since 2011. Additionally, the organization has faced losses of Rs.2862Cr over the past 8 years due to factors like rising diesel prices, political strikes costing Rs.945Cr, and paying Rs.275Cr annually in interest on Rs.4000Cr debt. Strong unions have also increased costs by obtaining higher wages through strikes. All of these factors have forced further fare hikes to compensate for APSRTC's financial losses.

2. Problem with APSRTC
 There has been a continuous hike in the fares
every year which became a problem to the
common man. The increases were as follows:
a. NOV 5th 2013 hike in minimal charges from Rs.5 to
Rs.6 & Garuda by Rs2/km.
b. Sept 24th 2012 increase in fares by 2.5%.
c. jan 2011 hike in charges by 24% highest off all
hikes
d. june 2011 hike by 1.23%.

3. 1.Finalcial status
In the past 8 years the organization has incurred loss for 6
times and was able to be profitable only for 2 years.
Accumulated losses stood at Rs.2862Cr .
Annually it Pays Rs.275Cr Interest on Rs.4000Cr Debt
2.Serious increase in diesel prices
Every time the diesel price increases by Re.1, it resulted in an
additional burden of nearly Rs.80 cr per year to the RTC.
Price of Diesel in 2010 was Rs.41.33/ltr which increased to
Rs.44.32/Ltr in 2011 Rs.48.67/Ltr in 2012 and Rs.54.65/Ltr in
2013.

4. 3.Political & Govt. issues
RTC had incurred an operating loss of nearly Rs 945 crore due to
the strike in Seemandhra districts in October 2013 and Telangana
districts in November 2010.
The organization pays between Rs. 350-Rs. 400 crores annually as
motor vehicles tax.
4.Union problems
The strong unions like the Mazdoor union was always successful in
full filing there demands form the organization through strikes.

5. conclusion
All the above stated factors led to the
loss of the organization which made it to
compensate only through increasing the
fares.
