Real Madrid was founded in 1897 as Football Sky by professors and students in Madrid. In 1900, Football Sky split into two clubs, one of which became Real Madrid after King Alfonso XIII granted the club the royal title in 1920. Real Madrid plays its home games at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, named after former player and long-time president Santiago Bernabéu. Real Madrid has developed an eternal rivalry with Barcelona and has won a record 31 La Liga titles and 13 European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles.
