rateManager ASP
    Application Preview
Introduction

Thank you for taking your valuable time to review rateManager ASP.
This preview will provide only a simple glimpse of the design and
capabilities of rateManager ASP and the thinRate Web Service Rate
Engine. For a more detailed preview, please contact us and we will
setup a web demonstration at your convenience.

To navigate through the slide show, simply click your mouse to move
to the next slide.
After you have successfully logged into rateManager ASP,
we must select a Client Profile to work with.
Rates are uniquely stored for each client profile.
You will need at least one client profile to maintain
rates, however multiple client profiles are available
dependant on licensing.
The first step to adding rates is to create a Rate
Application record. These records serve as an index
during rating and outlines how rates for the specific
Rate Reference will apply.
All detailed information about the rates are stored in
this record, with the exception of the rates themselves.
Once you’ve created a Rate Application record, you
can start adding rates. The above example illustrates
a Basic Commodity or Point to Point rate.
You can also keep track of Fuel Surcharge rates for
each carrier. rateManager ASP tracks various Fuel
Surcharge types, including US-DOE, US-DOE (Mileage
Based), FCA-NATC as well as Negotiated FSC.
Negotiated Fuel Surcharge records are date driven.
When a carrier changes his negotiated FSC, simply
add a new record with the new effective date and
rates.
FCA Based Fuel Surcharge Levels are published
weekly at the FCA-NATC site. These levels are
commonly used for Canadian Domestic and Cross
Border freight moving via Canadian Carriers.
US DOE based Fuel Surcharge Levels are governed
by the Average Fuel Price Index published weekly by
the US Department Of Energy.
Carriers that use the US-DOE method calculate their Fuel
Surcharge levels based on the then current average
price of fuel for the region they subscribe to. The US-
DOE method is generally used for US Domestic and
Cross Border freight moving via US Carriers.
The Rate Discount screen is used specifically for
Class based rates. It allows for discounts to be
calculated off NMFC based Class Rate modules that
you can license from SMC3, FCA-NATC or MWB.
Value Added Services (accessorial charges) are also
stored for each carrier. This means that you can
accurately calculate fees for all accessorial services
provided by any carrier, for any freight movement.
Finally, you can test the rates you have stored using
the Test Rate function. Simply select origin and
destination(s), weight, any specific requirements for
equipment or service, then click Submit.
If you did not select a specific carrier, then the thinRate
Web Service Engine returns all rates loaded for the
origin destination points entered. Rates are returned
sorted by lowest to highest cost. To view a rate detail,
simply double-click on any line.
The Rate Detail provides a breakdown for the rates
calculated, including FSC, VAS and any discounts (if
applicable). Canadian domestic rates are subject to
various taxes, and they are returned in the calculated
amounts as well.
In this example, we are going to obtain domestic
Canadian rates. Note you can request rates using
either a postal/zip code or a specific city name.
Again we double click on any line to see the Rate Detail.
Notice that in addition to the Fuel Surcharge being
calculated, thinRate WS also retrieved the applicable
GST tax for this request and added it to the total.
Global Rate Maintenance is available to all
stored rates except the Czar/MWB/FCA
modules. This means that when you take a
rate increase, you can automatically apply
it against the current rate levels, rather than
have to re-key the rates.
You can provide different increase levels defined by
rate types. In this example, the carrier negotiated a
5% increase on Minimum Charges, and a 4.5%
increase on LTL rates. Note that you can also define
rounding properties for the increased rates.
Easy Installation and Access

                    The rateManager ASP
                    system can be easily
                    setup into any
                    network. Whether
                    onsite, or remotely via
                    a hosted provider, the
                    complete system is
                    browser based written
                    in current .NET
                    technology available
                    to your users.
The Power of XML

Rate Request thinRate WS
 Originator XML Rate Engine

The thinRate WS Rate Engine uses XML messaging to
request and return rates. This provides lightning
      quick response times.
Easy Integration

              The thinRate WS
              Engine can be easily
              integrated into any
              third party application
              that requires freight
              rating. XML is the
              transport mechanism
              for Rate Requests and
              Rate Responses.
