Narrator -
This is the Story Of Ramayana. Long ago, the wise King Dasharatha ruled over the Kingdom of
Ayodhya, on the banks of the river Sarayu. He was married to three wives, Kauslaya, Kaikeyi
and Sumitra and was blessed with 4 sons- Ram, Bharat,Shatrughan and Laxhman. All four sons
of the King grew up to become fine men of whom Ram was the most righteous and committed
to rules and integrity, Lakshamana was deeply devoted to his elder brother.. One day, the great
sage Vishvamitra led Rama and Lakshamana to the kingdom of Mithila which was ruled by King
Janak, who had a beautiful daughter named Sita. The king held a competition in which the man
who prevailed to lift and draw the powerful bow he possessed would become the groom of his
beloved daughter Sita.
Suitor1 - with Prince 1 trying to lift and falling flat on
the ground
Ravan - Ravan, the powerful and proud king of Lanka. the bravest of the brave, blessed by lord
Shiva Himself. I, who could lift the Kailash mountain would have no difficulty lifting this old bow!
But even Ravan fails,
Ram- Ram walks towards the bow, lifts it, ties the string to it,
and then breaks it with a crack ( thunder sound effect).
Sita walks towards Ram and puts a garland around his
neck (music).
VO: “Sita and Ram are married” Everyone was very happy.
2 Kaikeyi's scheme and Ram's Exile
After the wedding, Rama and Sita lived in Ayodhya, as happy and
a peaceful couple could be. As years passed King Dasharatha felt
old age approaching, and wanted Rama to inherit the throne.
However, Queen Kaikeyi’s maid heard of
this even before it was formally announced to the people. The maid told her mistress about it.
2. Kaikeyi called Dasharath and made him Remember - when you were injured in battle ten years
ago? I brought you to a safe place and you promised me two boons. Now I wish to ask for those
now. I want my two boons.
1st wish is to exile Ram and 2nd to make Bharat as King.
3 Golden deer , Lakshman Rekha, Sita kidnapped and Jatayu trying to
rescue
After being exiled, Rama, Sita and Lakshamana lived in Dandaka
Forest for a long time. One day Sita saw a beautiful deer( demon Marichi) and asked Ram to
catch it for her.
Ram willingly obliged his wife, but not until giving firm instructions to Lakshmana to guard Sita.
As Rama got closer to the deer, he saw that it was a demon, and right before Rama killed it, the
deer uttered these words in Rama's voice, "Sita, help me!" When Lakshmana and Sita
hearing these words, Sita convinced Lakshmana to go help Rama. But first he
drew a circle (Lakshman Rekha) around the hut that would protect Sita and told her to stay
within it.
When Lakshmana was gone, Ravana turned himself into a sage and begged for food from Sita.
Because sage cannot come into a woman's home Sita came out of the circle and Ravana
quickly turned himself back into a demon, and carried her off.
The vulture Jatayus an old friend of Dasharatha’s comes flying along. He tried everything in his
power to help Sita but he got badly hurt in the process.
4 Sita sad (dance) +Raavan entry
Ravan takes Sita to Lanka and is held captive in Ashok vatika, surrounded by Ravan’s demon
lady-servants.
5. Entry of Hanuman and his vanar sena
Insearch of Sita, Ram and Lashman meet hanuman. Hanuman and his vanar sena helps Ram
to find Sita.
Hanuman, a mighty monkey that can do the impossible, went with one of the
search groups. When they came to the ocean they were told that Sita was on an
island 300 miles away. After this Hanuman, forever loyal to Ram, made the
jump to Lanka. In Lanka he found Sita and offered to take Sita to Ram, but Sita
refused to let anyone but Ram touch her. Sita gave a ring to Hanuman to
give to Ram.
When Hanuman returned back from Lanka, he told Ram of the good news and gave him
the ring. After receiving this news Ram set out with his monkey army to attack
Lanka. When they came to the mighty ocean the monkey army built a great
bridge( Ram Setu) to Lanka.
3. 6 Ram-Ravan war and victory for Ram
They fought, long and hard, for many hours, until Ram, using his divine bow, pierced Ravana's
heart. The monkeys,at the same time, defeated the Ravan, rakshasa army. “Ravana is
vanquished and Ram emerges victorious”
All the army erupts, “Siyapati Ram Chandra ki Jai,
“Siyapati Ram Chandra ki Jai””
