How did you use media technologies
in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?

Impact of new media technology
• Technological media convergence has allowed society to
become a lot more technically minded. Convergence is the
coming together of media. An example for this is a mobile
phone, where many different medias are accessed from one
device.
• The main impact new media has had on todays society is the
fact that every thing is now done through ICT and computers.
An example
What technology did I use?
• HD Camcorder
• Apple iMac
• Final Cut Pro X
• Mobile phones
• Computers
• Wordpress
• Soundcloud
• Prezi
Final Cut Pro X – This was the editing software my group used in
order to create and edit the short film. This software was also
used to edit voxpops and audience feedback.
Microsoft Word – I used this programme to draft any blogs I
needed to post. I could use different fonts and functions to create
a draft before I poster it.
Microsoft Powerpoint – This programme was used in many ways.
Firstly, this was used to create any presentations for my research
and planning on my blog. Again it was used for evaluations and
different ways to present work.
Adobe Photoshop – This programme was used to create my film
poster. I was able to learn many functions and the workings of
Photoshop. This was also used to edit pictures, to put on my film
review.
YouTube – This is the main website I used to post all of my work
on. The short film as posted on YouTube along with several
different voxpops and valuations. YouTube allows easy sharing it
very easy to use.
HD Camcorder – In order to shoot the film at high quality, I made
sure we used a HD camera. We used a Panasonic camera to
shoot all footage and scenes of the short film.
Apple iMac – Final Cut Pro X is only accessible through an iMac
which is why we used this type of computer. We completed all
editing through this computer.
Computers – I used this for every day work such
as, blogging, presentations and research. The internet allowed
me to access many things such as Wordpress.
Wordpress – This is the blogging website I used where all my
blogs were posted. Every step of my planning and production
process is on this blog.
Slideshare – Slideshare was used in order to share powerpoint
presentations on my blog. As wordpress does not supprt
powerpoint, they were uploaded to slideshare and blogged from
there.
Mobile Phone – I used my phone quite a lot during this process
as it is handy and quick. If I needed to research something I used
my phone. I also blogged from my phone frequently using the
Wordpress app. This was a very easy and quick way to blog and
ensured I stayed on top of it.
Prezi – Prezi is an online presentation software which allows us
to create dynamic and 3d presentations. I used this mainly to
present research such as: Little White Lies magazine. As I have
used this before, I was very confident in using prezi and
exploring its functions.
Problems..
• I encountered a few problems during the process. The main
problem was with Prezi and not being able to share it on
WordPress. As I needed a code to embed my Prezi on to my
blog It was hard for me to communicate my work with my
audience.
• Another problem I encountered using technology was the
camera. As the camera was new, It took me a while how to
use it fully before I could actually start filming. However, I
quickly grasped the hang of it and began to use the camera to
my full advantage.
Web 2.0
• This theory states that we as media consumers no longer
absorb media content but now make and create our own
products. The web is a way in which we can portray our
creativity and content.
• This relates to my work as I have used different software in
order to create pieces of work. I have used Final Cut Pro X and
Adobe Photoshop, both creating my own work from scratch.
As I have originally created my own work and short film, it
shows I am using my own initiative rather than letting a
professional do it for me.
