The 15th century in Europe, known as the Quattrocento, was an important period for the development of art and the Renaissance. Many Byzantine artists fled to Italy after the fall of Constantinople, bringing new painting techniques. They taught students in the wealthy Italian cities, helping to advance Renaissance styles.
