The Quakers, also known as the Religious Society of Friends, were a religious group founded in the 17th century by George Fox. They dressed plainly and rejected vanity, conformity, and wastefulness. They obeyed the inner light and refused to take up arms or bow to any man, going against social conventions of the time.
