PUMPKIN vs Atoto A6 Pro
I was looking to replace my factory stereo with a top-quality
Android head unit. I originally purchased an Atoto A6 Pro, but
returned it and thought I would try the Pumpkin. With not as
many reviews, I thought it was a risk. Here is the end-all review
if you are comparing the two units: BUY THE PUMPKIN!
I ended up returning the Atoto for several key reasons. First, it's
still based on Android 6.0 (OLD). The physical buttons on the
unit are no good. The dual Bluetooth (for data sharing) did NOT
work for me, no matter what I tried (Pixel 2 XL). It is also a
quad-core unit, and the performance was lacking.
This PUMPKIN fixes ALL of those problems. Android 9.0,
octa-core with snappy-fast performance. The physical buttons
on this unit are AMAZING. They have a very high quality feel
and push to them. There is only one Bluetooth connection that
does both phone/music, as well as internet tethering. The
native UI is pretty decent - haven't felt the need to install an
aftermarket UI from the App Store. Full Play Store support.
The screen is bright enough for daytime use, and it also has a
very handy "screen off" button on the notification bar. I am
happy with the sound quality, although I only run a factory car
stereo. I do notice that the Bluetooth volume is lower than the
radio volume.
Installation was a bit difficult due to the larger screen/unit size.
I had to custom trim my Double Din faceplate to accommodate
the larger size. This unit is NOT a "standard" double DIN. The
Atoto A6 fit perfectly (2017 Nissan Sentra). Also, this unit
utilizes an "ISO" power/speaker cable plug. My car did not use
an ISO harness (not sure if any American cars do), but this was
easy to cut off and re-wire to a harness.
Highly recommend the PUMPKIN over an Atoto!
