How Can I Use SNAP to Improve My Estimation Practices?
PROJECTS
1. DEPUTY BA LEAD
AGILE / WATERFALL DRIVEN SEO PROJECT
PROJECT A: I worked on a search engine optimisation project within which the mandate
was to optimise an organisations website using Long tail / short tail keyword search.
In the process of the WAGILE driven SEO project, I functioned in the capacity as team lead
on project tasks and also functioned as part of a team (i.e. team member) on other tasks. I
actively worked as part of the team that articulated the Projects mandate which was
designed as the solution to the organisations growing digital need. We got the Brief from
the project sponsor and professionally made meaning of it, relating frequently with the
sponsor until it was signed off. The process involved doing a gap analysis to determine the
“as is” (problem scenario) and also involved properly articulating the projects scope,
objectives, and defining very important parameters like the “done” parameter. This was all
concluded and successfully signed off so the project could move into its next stage.
During the Conceptualise and initiate stage of the project, I also worked as part of a team
using Google Analytics to determine the audience personae for the site. We used the
analytics tool to determine the behavioural trend, demographics and the geo-location of the
product user.
On the same SEO project, I also functioned as Task Lead on the swot / Pestle analysis part
of the project. We had to SWOT analyse competitor sites. We had to look closely at the
intuitiveness of the competitor’s site, its speed, content, size, page structure and its general
aesthetics. We also SWOT analysed the projects optimisation strategy after which I wrote a
report to the BA Lead.
I also led a group of three people to prepare the projects KPI. A process in which we used
some key performance indicators including change in the sites uploads speed and user
conversion rate. Using excel, my team created a measurement template clearly showing the
“as is” and the “to be”. The template was designed to show the specific changes in
performance related activities.
AGILE /WATERFALL DRIVEN PROJECT
PROJECT B: I also worked on a project in which we designed an application for a
governmental body where (using a mobile platform APP system) each department of the
government can seamlessly relate with each other and also relate with the public. The App
has further functionalities including a one direction communication flow between the
government and the public.
2. During this project I specifically led a teamto gather requirements with a template showing
the apps functionalities, including high level requirements and Low level requirements in a
priority order using the Moscow tool. My team also designed a use case diagram and a
process flow diagram visually demonstrating all the processes in the app including the
registration process and the subscription process. The diagram visually displayed the flow of
all processes in using the App.
Using MOSCOW methodology; we delineated the priority levels of the requirements into
the must haves, could haves, should haves and won’t have. We also did same in the Epics &
user stories. The template we designed also demonstrated the gherkin syntax (acceptance
criteria) for each story.
I was also team Lead for the survey part of the project. This involved us designing a survey
measuring instrument (questionnaire) to get feedback from the potential market for the
App.
