Project Charter
Information Extraction Into Pre-Defined categories
(Named Entity Recognition)
Start date 30.03.2019 End date 10.08.2019
Background
Named Entity Recognition and classification is the task of identifying the text of special meaning and classifying into
some predetermined categories. These categories may range from person, location, organization to dates,
quantities, numeric expressions etc. Named entity recognition has been an important research area since 1996.Still it
is a required field to be studied due to its important use in various natural language applications.
Goals
The main goal of the system is to categorize word based on it use such as person, location, organization dates,
quantities, numeric expressions, email and title (profession)
Scope
The scope of the project is to develop a java based system which can categorize a given set of text to a predefined
category such as person, location, time, number, title and email.

Project Milestones
- Learning about the stanford core NLP
- Installing the sofwares
- Creating the interface
- Programming
- Testing
- Error correction
- Launching the software
Project Budget
Since we are using the open sources java library from stanford university our budget is negligible.
Constraints, Assumptions, Risks and Dependencies
Constraints - Student availability to meet for project planning is limited to lecture
hours.
- We are lacking computational power to process large volume of data]
- Student availability to meet for project planning is limited to school
hours.
- Tight timeframe
Assumptions we think our project will impress the customer and it will be very useful to create
tagging for blogs
Risks and Dependencies We are soley depended on the university of stanford ‘s java library that is the
stanfordcoreNPL
